Hey, Colin here. I'm currently a graduate student obtaining my Masters in Education at Rowan University. For my undergrad, I attended Villanova University, and graduated summa cum laude with degrees in English and Mathematics, as well as a minor in Creative Writing. During my junior and senior years, I tutored students in statistics and calculus on a one-on-one basis, and tutored one student even after graduation, for the duration of a summer course. Presently I am a student teacher at Williamstown High School, where I co-teach three algebra I classes and three pre-calculus. I plan to be teaching full-time come September next year.

Honestly, I simply enjoy learning, folks. I like discovery, and seeing others discover things for themselves. If I can get you to discover things—a passion, a skill, an unexpected future career—I view that as a success. Of course, your grades are paramount—I get that. I'll focus on that first. But if I can convince you to like what you're learning, too... that's it, friend. That's what I do this for. That. Right there. That's why I plan on teaching as a career, and why I'd like to have the opportunity to tutor you.

Regarding my methods, they vary depending on if I'm tutoring in English or math. I'll say this, though:
I'm not a memorizer. I don't drill formulas. Memorizing has its place, but I will always teach conceptual understanding first, formulas and conventions second. And you'll succeed if you do the same.

Statistics

Over the course of Bachelors in mathematics, I took (and earned A's in) such courses as Calculus (I through III), Statistics, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and beyond. Currently, I'm a student teacher at Williamstown, where I teach multiple classes of Algebra I and Pre-Calculus.

So I graduated with a degree in English—but so, presumably, has every writing tutor. What I offer is the expertise and enthusiasm of someone who reads and writes daily, and who wants to eventually make writing his career. I love teaching too, though, and would love to help you or your child improve.

Currently, I'm a student teacher at Williamstown, where I teach multiple classes of Algebra I and Pre-Calculus. I'm more than familiar with standardized tests, having taken, and performed well on, such standbys as the AP tests, the SATs, the ACTs, and the Praxis. Suffice to say, I'm friendly with math. More importantly, though, I think I'm pretty friendly when it comes to people, and I'd love to help you succeed.

Outstanding Tutor

Colin is an exceptional tutor who takes his time to really help you understand the material. He breaks the information down until it clicks for you. He does not mind if it takes you a couple times or you get it right away. I have thoroughly enjoyed my session with him and recommend him to anyone who requires a patient understanding tutor.

Great tutor.

Colin is patient and good at keeping the student focused on the work. He finds where the student is weak and emphasizes improving those areas while going over all material. Highly recommend!

Multiple Integrations review

He helped me figure out a few problems that I struggled with. He also showed me an easier way to do the problems and also showed me how to make triple integration easier.

Excellent teacher

Colin helped my daughter to prepare for a big Calculus test. She said the concepts he taught her were easy to understand and he helped to explain the material in a way that made sense to her and she was able to grasp. He was also quite personable and she felt comfortable with him.
