I am an experienced high school English teacher. I majored in English Education and minored in Spanish Education at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. I have a Master's degree in Communications from New York University School of the Arts, in New York City. I have taught high school English and Writing at Perth Amboy High School in Perth Amboy, NJ and at Vineland High School in Vineland, NJ. I have a teaching certificate from New Jersey. I currently substitute teach in the Vineland school system.
I have always enjoyed teaching and helping to train young minds to achieve their maximum potential.
I have been a professional writer for over thirty years. I have written for magazines and newspapers and also owned my own marketing company where I provided written training material as well as video scripts for major corporations. I am a playwright who has had two plays produced. One Off-Broadway in New York City.
I like to assess the student before beginning actual lesson so I can understand the specific need or challenge the student is facing. I assign homework and provide periodic assessments and progress reports. I like to include parents by consulting and advising them how to help their child.
My fee is $45 an hour. Parents may have to purchase workbooks or educational materials online if required. I don't sell them.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
