Although I was born, raised and educated in the United States, I spent the major part of my adult life living in Europe, specifically in Germany, and then ultimately Australia. Even though I had two young children at the time, I was also a very successful concert and opera singer. I performed in the most illustrious opera houses and concert halls in Europe, America as well as Australia. This strong connection to world-famous, European conductors catapulted me to a high professional-level recording career with renowned orchestras in Europe and America. And ultimately all of this lead to my becoming an Associate Professor of Voice and Opera at the Australian National University. Classical Voice training, not unlike our every day speech, depends on the individual's understanding of the production of both the vowels and the consonants. These allow us to communicate with more clarity, and therefore in general, be taken more seriously by those who are listening to us. So, in short: I will definitely NOT teach anyone how to sing! But I will help ANYONE who wishes to be taken seriously when they are trying to communicate in German. Like the structured form of the German language itself...once you get its initial rules and rhythm in your blood, you will be quickly on your way to speaking it freely!

I learned the language from the ground up. Right in Germany, at first at the Goethe Institute and thereafter by studying non-stop at home (in Germany!) like a fiend. All new languages require a good portion of discipline at the very beginning in order to facilitate what is able to be done at the next level. Once the language structure is understood, even German begins to make sense. German is actually an uncluttered, cleverly structured language. Once the initial panic of learning any new language subsides, everyone should be able to get the hang of German!! Herzlich Willkommen!

While being a very busy opera singer and recording artist with major orchestras and world-renowned conductors throughout Europe for approx. 2

For aspiring opera singers, like I was at the conservatory, foreign language studies were and will always be obligatory. Having an innate ease with mandatory Spanish, Italian and French, the shock of having to totally reorganize my brain to figure out the grammar and vocabulary of German through me for a TERRIBLE, HUGE LOOP!! So here I am today, a Mom, a retired European opera singer and Australian university professor of opera and singing, who is completely fluent in this fascinating language. I look forward to helping you learn this (yes) beautiful language. Celina Lindsley
