About Julia

In terms of my educational background, I received my bachelor's degree in French literature from Princeton University and recently earned my master's degree in public administration from the University of Pennsylvania. As for my musical background, I have been a harpist for 22 years and spent 8 years studying in Juilliard's Pre-College Program.

For the past 3 years, I have worked as an SAT/academic tutor at C2 Education in Princeton, NJ. I tutored students up through high school in critical reading, grammar, writing, and college admissions essays. It was my job to prepare these students to do well on standardized tests, to help them achieve their academic goals, and to instill in them strong study habits, self-confidence, and tenacity. I've found that I really enjoy teaching and working with young people! I especially value the opportunity to teach students one-on-one, as it allows me to focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses and to tailor lessons to their individual style of learning.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have spent the past three years working as an ACT English tutor at two popular test prep companies in New Jersey. I am familiar with the "tricks" of the exam as well as the content that students need to master in order to excel on the English section.

College Counseling

Having gone through the application process myself - first when applying to Princeton University and second when applying to UPenn for graduate school - I am well aware of how overwhelming it can be for students.

I am also aware of what it takes to stand out in a competitive applicant pool.

Drawing on my experiences, I have helped my students successfully navigate the college application process (with as little stress as possible!), write stellar admissions essays, and be accepted to top colleges.

To me, this is the most rewarding work, and I would love to assist your child in getting accepted to his or her dream school.
