About Keren

Hello! My name is Keren and I am currently a student at The College of New Jersey. I am a Special Education and Psychology Major. I am confident that I will be able to teach your student! As a future educator, I hope to inspire students who are struggling or succeeding to be the best and work their hardest so succeed no matter how difficult the task may be. I love to see students at their best and their worst because I know no matter how difficult something is for a student, that with practice and the correct study tools, every student is capable of succeeding.

I have been working with children since I was in 8th grade as a private tutor, a Sunday School teacher, and also for field work at school. I have worked with several students in the past ranging from international student to students with learning disabilities. Each student I have worked with started with difficulty, but as time went on, there was a change in the student's attitude and their work ethic. If students are unmotivated or unexcited, reward systems are put in place to excite the student and to give the student a drive to begin working. As time goes on, students do not need reward systems in place anymore because their work ethic and attitudes have changed and goals have been put in place.

I love working with children because each child is different and reacts differently to different teaching styles. And although all students learn differently, EVERY student is capable of succeeding in school. I like to work with students and motivate them and help them see that they are capable and in charge of their own learning.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am currently a Special Education and Psychology Major at The College of New Jersey. As an Education Major, I have had multiple field experiences in the classroom and have even worked with children from grades K-6 for three summers at a summer camp, teaching English, Math, Science, and Reading.

Elementary Math

I have worked with students in a practicum and individual setting working on math grades K-8.
