Wilmington University (Elementary education)
Hello! I am a certified elementary school teacher with experience with regular and special education. I have taught everyday math in all elementary school grades and the current literacy series. I have a thorough understanding of the NJ common core standards. I will ensure the student is meeting the benchmarks for their grade level. Once the benchmark is achieved, I do believe in challenging the student and reinforcing the objectives during the lessons.
For the student- I believe learning should be fun! I will always end with a game or engaging activity to reinforce our lessons. I am fair, patient and will listen to you and your parent or guardian. I believe learning is a partnership. We must work together to achieve our goals,
I have documentation of a background check from a reputable agency. I am a mature adult with teenage children and I am experienced in working with students in math and language arts. I am excited to meet you and your child and begin an exciting and fulfilling educational journey.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned a NJ CEAS in elementary education K-5. I graduated college Magna Cum Laude. I also am certified to teach in the state of Delaware. I have worked with children with learning disabilities and at risk students. I take the time to understand the student's strengths, weaknesses, preferred learning style and hobbies. I use this information to create lesson plans and activities to engage the student and relate the objectives to promote life long learning.
I have taught phonics using a program called Fundations. I attended a 2 day workshop on the program. I have taught phonics to students grades primarily in grades k-2 and third and fourth grade special education classrooms. I believe teaching phonics as early as pre-k will help students master the English language.
