About Steven

Bio

I am currently a 4th grade elementary teacher. I work in an in-class support classroom where I am the special education teacher. I have a great rapport with my students and colleagues. I feel that teaching is such a great profession because we are teaching our kids how to prepare for later on in life. I always felt that if a student walked out of the classroom knowing at least one thing that was taught to them, then you are in the right direction for helping this student to succeed.

I feel that teaching is such a great profession because we are teaching our kids how to prepare for later on in life. I always felt that if a student walked out of the classroom knowing at least one thing that was taught to them, then you are in the right direction for helping this student to succeed.

I have been tutoring for the past two years and it was a former student of mine. When she went on to middle school, her mom had reached out to me and wanted me to help her out with her school work. I always look to tutor someone for an hour at a time and try to do two nights a week to help ensure the student is understanding the material.

I believe that math can be fun through different games and activities. Math has always been a fun subject to teach at the elementary level because there are so many things you can do to help the student learn the material.

I have a great program that we use in the classroom to help the students learn reading and vocabulary. I feel that the knowledge I have from that can carry over into a tutoring session to help the student understand the content.

I feel that spelling could be fun because of the programs and resources that I use at school. I can carry that over into a session to help the student learn and remember the spelling patterns for different words.

I feel that I am an outgoing person that students can really connect with. I enjoy learning the students interests and I try to incorporate their interests into the lessons to make them more enjoyable. I feel that I would make a great tutor for your child and help them grow academically.

Sports/Recreation

Baseball,

Baseball

I have played baseball since I was 5 years old until I was 14. The only reason I stopped playing was to pursue weight lifting for high school football. I still have knowledge of the game since I play in a few men's softball league in the summer. I have been playing that since I was 18, so I have about 9 years of experience playing softball and 9 years playing baseball.
Basketball,

Basketball

I played basketball from the age of 5 until I was 13. I stopped playing basketball after 8th grade because I was a tiny kid and I wanted to pursue weight lifting to help get bigger for football. I still play basketball to this day. I always played pick up games with friends after school and I also play once a year at school when we have our annual teacher vs. student basketball game.
Football

Football

I played football from the age of 5 until 17. This was the sport I always loved to play. I would play with my friends at recess everyday and also we would always play when we would hang out. It is the sport that I focused on the most. I was going to play football in college, but I had some setbacks and wasn't able to pursue that dream. I decided to get back into football while I was teaching and give back to the youth by coaching them. I was a coach for 3 years (same group of kids) and I kept moving up levels with them each year.
