Georgetown University School of Languages
I am an experienced teacher of French and Spanish. I have taught beginning levels through Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureat programs in both public and private schools. My background includes teaching and corporate work in the international insurance field. I have lived in Brussels, Belgium, Zurich, Switzerland, and Paris, France.
For Prospective Students:
My classes are challenging and fun. We learn to apply grammatical concepts and vocabulary in a fun and relevant way. I am dynamic, creative and caring.
Each person learns best when the teacher/tutor finds the best way possible to capitalize on strengths. When a student understands a specific concept and successfully uses it in writing and speaking, the smile is "priceless".
For Prospective Corporate Clients:
I have worked in marketing and account management for a multinational insurance company both in the U.S., and in Europe. My strengths include teaching of foreign languages and a successful business background involving development of training programs and making presentations to all corporate levels. I look forward to providing assistance with employee relocations either to or from the United States.
I look forward to working with you!

I thought I had changed the rate to $50 per hour. Thank you
Laurie is very patient, professional, and thorough. Laurie covers the week's school assignments with our daughter and makes sure she is prepared for class work and tests. She also makes the extra effort in terms of bringing in her own teaching materials such as work sheets and conversational CDs to reinforce class work and improve understanding. She has a bright, friendly personality that puts our daughter at ease and she clearly enjoys teaching.
Not only have our daughter's grades improved with her help, but she actually likes studying French now and looks forward to learning rather than just passing tests. We are very happy with Laurie and give her the highest recommendation.
Merci beaucoup. Muchas gracias. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
My daughter doing so well under Laurie's guidance she will be able to skip French 2 in High School and advance to French 3!!
Merci beaucoup. I have very much enjoyed meeting your daughter and it has been my pleasure working with her. Merci. Madame S.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
