Bio

I have been a math teacher and football/basketball coach since 2012. Over my teaching career, I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and SAT Preparation.

My main focus through Wyzant will be tutoring for test preparation. My goal is to meet students where they are mathematically and provide them opportunities for productive struggle to help gain a stronger grasp of content to help improve their test scores.

I have been a math teacher and football/basketball coach since 2012. Over my teaching career, I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and SAT Preparation.

My main focus through Wyzant will be tutoring for test preparation. My goal is to meet students where they are mathematically and provide them opportunities for productive struggle to help gain a stronger grasp of content to help improve their test scores.

I always try to make math relatable and explain the "why" behind concepts. I strongly believe this approach helps students have a stronger grasp of content, even with less problems being done.

In terms of the SAT, sessions will be rooted in developing fundamental skills that can be applied across the four question domains. I believe having experience teaching all of the courses listed above provides me with a plan of action for addressing specific areas of misunderstanding in preparation for standardized tests.

A little bit about myself:
-I am a dual-citizen (USA and Ireland)
-I played college football at The College of New Jersey
-I am a dog lover!

Personable and Thorough

My son is typically very resistant to meeting new people, and didn't want a tutor. I picked him up from his first session with John, and he was very positive and said John explained things clearly and he was looking forward to his second session. Very happy we found him!
