I have been teaching for the Jersey City Public School District for 15 years grades K-7 in ALL subject areas. I have an earned Bachelor's Degree in Special Education as well as an earned Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy.
In addition, I have worked after school programs assisting children with homework. I enjoy working with children and I hope that I can continue to make a difference. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Special Education. I have been working with children who have Emotional disabilities and behavioral disabilities for fifteen years in an urban setting. I have implemented behavioral modification strategies in my classroom that have been successful to all learners.
I have worked as a test scorer for Pearson scoring the PARCC assessment. They have trained me in certain subjects, therefore, I am aware of what needs to be taught in order to successfully pass the assessment. In the areas of Common Core Math and Reading, I received continuous training from my school district on a monthly basis, which then allows me to instruct my students and provide them the necessary information.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Special Education and my certification through the Department of Education allows me to work with children grades K - 12. I have been working with classified and non classified students for 15 years as an Inclusion Teacher. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to work with children grades K - 7.

Currently, I am a Third Grade Teacher for the Jersey City Public School district. I have been teaching for 15 years grades K-7 in ALL subjects areas. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to be a PARCC scorer in where I gained a wealth of knowledge that can be utilized to assist the students that I tutor.

Hi, my name is Sonia R. I have been teaching grades K-7 for 15 years. As educators, our school district mandates that we receive ongoing training to better assist out students. We receive training in all core subjects. We then implement the strategies in the classroom where children can then utilize the skill in all areas including study skills. My co teacher and I work very closely and we are continuously ensuring that we model and teach good study skills.
