Hi, my name is Eric! I am an passionate educator with 17 years of tutoring experience and 3 years of college teaching experience. I first started tutoring as a founding member of my middle school "study club" and I have loved helping students ever since. I followed this passion into higher education where I earned a BS in Physics summa cum laude, and Masters in Physics Education. My PhD dissertation work focused on how students learn, and I found that students learn best by doing.

I enjoy forming a relationship of trust with my students and helping them see that science and math do not have to be scary. This relationship of trust allows us to work together as a collaborative problem-solving team. My favorite part of tutoring is helping a student with a difficult concept and seeing their "Eureka!" moment when they develop their own understanding.

"Math is the language of science" according to my 8th grade science teacher. My years of experience learning and teaching science would never have been possible without a strong mathematics foundation. But it wasn't always so easy: when I first started learning math, it was a struggle. I had to overcome years of difficulty but eventually it became second nature. My early struggles mean that I understand what it's like to be "bad at math" - I know just how scary it can be - and I know how to overcome these challenges.

I have two degrees in physics, and I am PhD Candidate in Physics Education with 5 peer-reviewed publications about student learning. I have taught 8 semesters of college physics using a workshop style problem-solving format, which is scientifically proven to be more effective than lecture. Physics Education is my passion in life, and I am eager to share that passion with my students.

If math and physics seem hard or scary, please reach out to me! I promise it doesn't have to be that way. We can work together and solve the problem.

Couldn't Recommend a Better Physics Tutor!

Eric has been a great tutor for physics! I've really enjoyed working with him. He is very patient in explaining concepts and answering any questions that might result. You can tell he truly cares about the student and wants to make sure they fully understand the problems and concepts themselves as he's very observant and picks up on social cues from them to help tailor his explanations to fit their learning style. I'm more of a visual learner, so all the diagrams and explanations he would draw out were really helpful for me to better grasp the material. I feel much more confident in my physics abilities after my meetings with him! He has a passion for physics and shows it in a way that is easy to understand and makes you want to learn more about it too!

Patient, knowledgeable, and one of the best tutors

Eric was my tutor for College Physics, which was a class I had felt helpless in at the beginning of the semester. With the help of Eric’s great real-life examples, knowledge, and patience, I was able to learn the subject way more easily than I thought I ever could! His additional skill set in mathematics was invaluable in learning many of the topics we covered in Physics. His flexibility with meeting online OR in person along with his warm personality makes Eric one of the best tutors I’ve had!
