About Elizabeth

Hello! I have been teaching for +25 years!!! I have been teaching in my current public school for 10 years as a Second grade teacher! I have my Master's in reading and have experience with many reading strategies.

I have learned through the years that there is a strategy to fit every student no matter what their level! I enjoy the one on one instruction of tutoring and the confidence it can bring to the student!

I have a Master's in reading and have been trained in many reading programs. I have also been trained in Everyday Math.

I have been trained and demonstrate knowledge of Orton Gillinghan programs and Words Their Way spelling program. I also have experience with Project Read and many handwriting programs. I am also trained in many phonics programs, Good Habits, Great Writers, and Scott Foresman

I love the experience of when a student shows understanding and confidence in himself/herself in reading and all other subjects!!!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Handwriting

I have been teaching second grade for over 15 years. Within those years I have had the experience of teaching various handwriting programs such as Good Habits, Great Writers, Project Read, and D'Nealian. I believe in including different forms of small motor skills to enhance the writing skills. These skills include cutting, coloring, tracing in sand and glue cards. All of these help to improve the child's small motor skills and eye hand coordination.
