I have many years of experience teaching early childhood and elementary education. I look forward to helping your child excel in preschool, elementary, and middle school educational needs and cognitive behaviors. I have experience working with students of different cultures and languages and would like to teach your child with English immersion and an understanding of grasping language and concepts at developmentally appropriate levels. I believe in teaching the child according to his or her needs. I am understanding and compassionate.
I have over 20 years of experience working in early childhood education, and I raised two children who are now in their 20s. I recently completed a Master's in Education, MAED/ECH with a special concentration in Early Childhood development, and completed the necessary testing for Preschool-3rd grade Teacher and Teacher of Elementary Education, K-6 in New Jersey. I have experience working with and teaching children from different cultures and languages with a large spectrum of abilities and needs. I would like to work with children in early learning phases through middle school to help understand and put the pieces together of basic reading, writing, and social skills to help with academic and social acceptance in the classroom and out. I can help students of all ages learn to master basic foundational skills in grammar, math, life sciences, social sciences, ESL, Spanish, and other school subjects in real life settings. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I recently completed an MAED/ECH (Birth through Grade 3). I have been teaching and learning with children for almost 25 years in various preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms in very diverse school settings and districts. I have a wide variety of experiences teaching general studies, life skills, Social Studies, World Languages, Science, Math, Reading, Writing, and Listening/Learning retention, and organizational skills. I can assess at developmentally appropriate levels and evaluate the appropriate learning style and level for any student. I am open to different approaches to learning, and I am up-to-date on many recent modes and modifications of learning both in the conventional classroom, and non-traditional styles of learning and teaching. I feel that a student/teacher relationship should be mutually respectful, and I enjoy the moments when the students "get it" and we can proceed to higher levels of learning.
I taught Hebrew school for many years and lived in Israel. I taught at a Hebrew language dual cultural school for 19+ years. I have experience teaching the Hebrew alphabet (Aleph-Bet) in both printed letters and "script" which is a different letter configuration, like English Capital and lower case letters. I can teach the written and read language which is different. I can teach prayers from the Hebrew prayer book and teach beginning spoken grammar and vocabulary. I can understand and communicate in Hebrew. I have taught Hebrew language to children and adults.
I have just completed a Master's in Education program while working full time, managing a household, and household members while keeping up in an organized way with my own study skills. I have good practical ideas on how to organize studying by encouraging assessment and evaluation with each child's individual studying and learning skills and capabilities and learning styles. I believe that each child can learn through his or her best capabilities and a teacher can be a scaffolding guide to encourage deeper meaning, participation, and discovery through professional education and experience working with children.
