I am an experienced high school teacher that has spent her entire educational career in one place. And I love it.
Teaching is a second career for me. I came to teaching in 1999, specifically to teach chemistry and physics because I had a wonderful high school teacher who not only taught me chemistry, but also encouraged me to think for myself. He encouraged a girl in the early 1980s to study science, which was still a relatively rare occurrence. I just want to give back a little of what he gave me. Some students struggle in either chemistry or physics and my goal is to help them through this struggle and to come through the other side if not with my love of the subject but at least with an appreciation of it and a solid understanding.
My formal teaching experience includes teaching high school chemistry at all levels, including AP. I have been the AP chemistry teacher in my school now for 5 full school years and continue this year. Prior to that, I also taught several years of college prep physics, one year of honors physics, and several years of general physical science.
Each one of my 16 full school years included at least 1 section of college preparatory chemistry.
I have done home instruction in both chemistry and physics. I am an experienced high school teacher that has spent her entire educational career in one place. And I love it.

The hourly rate of $50 per hour is based on a 90 minute lesson. Lessons of less than that time or further than 20 miles from the 08901 zip code will be billed at $60.
I would highly recommend Dorothy G. as a physics tutor! My daughter is a junior in high school and was having trouble understanding physics as this was a new class for her. Dolly made the course information easy to understand. She is patient and professional, a true teacher! My daughter received an A for her first semester physics grade!
My daughter who is in the 10th grade is currently getting AP Chemistry tutoring help from Dorothy. Given my daughter has no Chemistry background, she needed some additional help in understanding key concepts and in problem solving of this college level Chemistry course. After looking around for a good tutor we really hit the jackpot. Dorothy has exceptional command on the subject having taught the AP Chemistry course for several years. She is very patient and has the knack of engaging my daughter fully. My daughter looks forward to her lessons. Dorothy is always on time and stays longer than the scheduled time to make sure she completes the material to a logical conclusion in each session. There is no doubt her tutoring has already boosted my daughter's average from first marking period by more than 5% and she is now in A average. Most importantly my daughter feels very confident and is not intimidated with the problems. Dorothy's approach on peeling the problems and methodically approaching towards the final solution is very much helping my daughter. Dorothy's authority on the subject inspired my daughter. We are confident Dorothy's tutoring is going to help her in the AP exam as well as the class grade. Because of Dorothy, my daughter actually loves this subject. If you are looking for a Chemistry tutor and Dorothy is in you area, there is no reason you should look any further.
Dorothy is a great tutor. She explains concepts well, understands the stamina of children and tailors her lessons such that the student absorbs and retains the information.
Dorothy is a very experienced AP chemistry teacher. My daughter took AP Chemistry during her sophomore year in high school with limited prior exposure to the subject. Dorothy made the concepts easier to understand. My daughter benefited significantly from the tutoring sessions. I highly recommend Dorothy if you are looking for a chemistry tutor.
My daughter had the most wonderful experience with Dolly. She is in an advanced physic class and with Dolly's help was able to secure and maintain an A in the class. Dolly stayed late when necessary and made sure my daughter fully understood the material. I would highly recommend her! Patient, always on time and easy to get along with.
Dorothy was very punctual, and actually showed up 15 minutes early for the tutoring lesson. She was very patient, communicated well, was professional, and her expertise on the chemistry subject material was very impressive. Also, her schedule was flexible regarding setting up the tutoring lesson. I would definitely recommend her if you are considering a tutor for your child.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching chemistry from a basic level to AP for 14 years. My AP students (at school) achieve 3's or higher. I have also tutored several college students who were struggling in first year chemistry.
My background in teaching science in at the high school level and my patience with young children should make me a good elementary science tutor.
Physical science is actually primarily a combination of chemistry and physics. In the first few years of my teaching career, I taught a course called introduction to physical science, and have been teaching chemistry and/ or physics ever since.
I have been teaching chemistry and/or physics for more than 14 years. In my time with WyzAnt I have tutored many students in physics with great success on their part. Some even improved from near failing to an A.
