Hello! My names is Idalis W. I am a certified elementary school teacher with a BA in Education, K-6 certification, and a BA in Writing Arts. As a Writing major I am well versed in writing practices from K to 12. As a second grade teacher I am able to tutor all elementary subject areas. I am familiar with the demands of the Common Core. I have experience working with students with learning disabilities as well as autism and ADHD. I make learning a fun and exciting experience. My ability to motivate students to have a desire to learn new things is a skill that I am proud to posses. I have experience tutoring after school with basic skills students in both reading and math. I am also trained in reading intervention programs as well as phonic based interventions. I graduated from Rowan University Magna Cum Laude and I am currently completing my graduate degree in Reading. Helping students overcome a challenge is rewarding. $45.00/ hour rate - one subject area focus per hour
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a teacher in an inclusion classroom I work with students who have ADHD on a regular basis. Both medicated and unmedicated. I am able to provide a variety of instructional formats that best suites the learner. I also have the ability to motivate and engage reluctant learners.
I am currently a teacher in an inclusion classroom. I have three students currently on the spectrum. I also have worked with Autistic students in a cognitive setting and sensory motor coaching.
I have a current New Jersey Teaching Certificate K-6 and a BA from Rowan University in Elementary Education. I also have a BA in Writing from Rowan University and am currently teaching 2nd grade.
I am qualified to teach phonics as I have been trained in several areas of phonics instruction. I am a Leveled Literacy Intervention teacher at my district. I work with struggling readers on a daily basis. I also have a variety of diagnostic assessments that are literacy and phonics based. I am obtaining my MA in Reading with a Specialist certification from Rowan University.
