Hi there! I'm a philosophy scholar with an uncanny knack for understanding language and a passion for helping students grow into their own both academically and personally. Since middle school, I've developed varying levels of competency in modern languages, such as French, German and Spanish, and classical languages including Latin and Ancient Greek. I honed my linguistic abilities even further during my rigorous studies in philosophy at the graduate level, where I became skilled at academic writing, logical argumentation, and critical reading.

To supplement my academic background, I continued to refine my grammatical, syntactical, and stylistic understanding as a content writer at Brafton, Inc. As a testament to my reading and writing expertise, I researched and authored an article about a quantum mechanical discovery that generated so much web traffic for a client that their website temporarily crashed.

In the educational arena, I tutored elementary school students in Toronto, Ontario through the Wagner College Co-curricular Program and gained adult ESL tutoring experience by volunteering at Jewish Vocational Services. During my tutoring service in Toronto, I used play and encouragement to establish rapport with the students and questions to both discern where they were struggling and to help them solve problems.

With my adult ESL client at JVS, on the other hand, I used a combination of questions and explanations to guide the student to improved reading comprehension. For instance, to help her overcome her difficulty with reading comprehension, I taught her linguistic clues and strategies for identifying the relationships between sentences and paragraphs within a passage. Additionally, I gave her suggestions for extra exercises to boost vocabulary. The success of the tutoring is evidenced by her subsequent passing scores on her reading comprehension exam.
