About Ryan

My recent interest in becoming a tutor for the summer has stemmed from my volunteer tutoring at the college I attend throughout the fall and spring semesters, The College of New Jersey. At school I major in civil engineering where I have been on the dean's list numerous times and I am also captain of the Men's Swimming and Diving Team. While my major does not prepare me to teach others, in the midst of the hours of homework and studying I have acquired the skill of being able to portray my knowledge in certain areas for others to easily comprehend. Not only does it help my peers in a large way but it also proves as a useful study tool for myself. Therefore I have two years under my belt of being one of the fist people my classmates call upon when they need help learning something a little better.

I specialize in all major math areas and a little bit of English. Many of the basic math subjects I am available to tutor for are the backbone for all of the classes I take for my major at college. So if I did not have a pristine sense of knowledge for these basic subjects I would not be able to excel in my classes. I am available 5 days a week generally from 3pm to 9pm and I am available all day on the weekends. My availability during the week is subject to become more open if the part time job I have applied for does not come back successful. I am really looking forward to meeting and helping anyone who is need of tutoring, and watching them grow as a student and improving their performance in the classroom.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I have completed all three levels of calculus in college and since then become very comfortable with them as they are used as the base in almost every one of my classes at school. Although I don't posses the years of experience teaching it to students, it is very fresh in my head and I still use it very frequently in class so I could sort of give you an inside look on what to expect in college level calculus class.
