I've been a tutor for over 10 years as well as a private and public high school English teacher for nearly as long. I am the owner and founder of a local SAT and ACT test prep tutoring company, and I have helped 100s of students in both Monmouth and Ocean counties. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching (Monmouth University) and a Bachelor of Arts in English (Saint Joseph's University).
My specialty is SAT and ACT prep, but I have a strong knowledge and background in English and math. I'm happy to help students of any age and background, and I find that 1-on-1 tutoring is the most effective means of learning any students looking to improve their reading, writing, and/or math scores.
I love to surf, run on the boardwalk, and hang out on the beach during the summertime. Will Ferrell is my favorite actor, and I love french toast!!!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I continue to help high school students achieve their highest ACT scores today.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Saint Joseph's (2004) and a Master of Arts in Education from Monmouth university (2008). I have been prepping students for the ACT for over 5 years and have just as much experience in the high school classroom as I taught English to freshman, sophomores, and juniors at Christian Brothers Academy. I am a certified high school English teacher in the State of New Jersey.
I have been working with high school students to increase their ACT Science scores for years. I fully understand and can clearly explain and convey the questions and answers on this portion of the ACT. The ACT Science section actually hinges more on one's ability to read and decipher graphs and charts properly than it is to solve specific physics and chemistry questions. The questions on the ACT Science section are more conceptual, and I've had great success helping high school students connect and understand these questions to increase their overall ACT Science section scores.
Algebra I is a cornerstone of my math education. I have worked with middle school and freshman year high school students for years helping them to understand and grasp the concepts of Algebra I. Grammar is one of my specialties. I can help students prepare for the Error Identification and Sentence Correction sections of the SAT and ACT, or I can simply help students improve their grammar skills by teaching correct sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and parallelism. As a high school English teacher, I have helped students improve their grammar for years.

I have taught high school English for over 5 years, and I also tutor many students in various math levels, especially those included on the Praxis.
I have worked with many middle school students improving their Pre-algebra skills as well as integrating Algebra I and Geometry concepts into our tutoring sessions. Students normally seem to need help understanding exponents and radicals, which is a big part of algebra. I have helped many students make the jump from Pre-algebra to Algebra I with great success.
I have taught a public speaking course in the past, and I understand the confidence and courage it takes to speak in front of a large group of people.
I can help manage the daunting task for anyone who may be asked to speak publicly in front of any size audience.
I introduce many different strategies when improving high school student SAT Reading scores, some of which include: Mapping the Passage, skipping General Passage Questions, answering Line Reference Questions, bubbling and underlining Context Clues, and tackling Sentence Completion questions by looking for the answers in the questions. I have increased 100s of high school students SAT Reading scores, and I look forward to doing the same when the New SAT comes out in March 2016.
I have worked with 100s of students improving their SAT Writing scores; some of whom have perfect scores of 800. The goal of writing the essay is to pick 2 unique individuals from literature, history, and/or current events. I have a very strong hold on grammar, and I am a certified high school English teacher in the State of New Jersey.
I am an expert with words and can help you improve your vocabulary. The most efficient way to improve vocabulary, of course, is to simply read more, but I also like to use what are known as Brain Cards - flash cards that include a personally relevant sentence and fun drawing to accompany the word, short and simple definition, and the part of speech. Creating Brain Cards is one of my favorite ways to build and improve one's lexicon.
I have helped many high school students create strong and clear English research papers in their American, British, or genre literature classes. I have also taken college courses on persuasive and creative writing, and I enjoy sharing this knowledge with others.
