My love of teaching stems from my love of learning new things. I have always loved the idea of sharing my knowledge with people and allowing them to, in turn, share it with someone else.
I began teaching martial arts when I was only 12 years old and from that, my love of seeing children and even adults grow and be proud of themselves because they accomplished something they didn't think they could began. Since than I have taught hundreds of people over the years, both in the martial arts as well as academics. I have tutored in high school, college, as well as taught technical skills at my current work.
I love the idea of helping others reach goals and gain self confidence in themselves. I love the idea of being part of someone's success, no matter how small.
I like to challenge my students in a positive matter that allows them to reach a conclusion and allows them to practice even when "study time" is over. I like to try and allow my students to find joy in things that they might not and to try new things. Depending on the work that needs to be done, I sometimes assign homework that is more of a study tool than actual homework, per say.
I tutored my nephew and niece who are in the 4 and 5th grade with math. I always loved to teach the young kids because they are like sponges and the look on their faces when then got the answer always made me feel like I accomplished something. I also like this kind of math because you can be creative on how to teach it to kids and I've always been a firm believer on having more than one way to solve a problem.
I have always loved science. Ever since I can remember I have had my nose in books and my hands in anything to learn. I graduated with a BS I'm Veterinary Technology as well as a BS in Marine Science which eventually lead me to my Masters in Marine Science. My love of animals also played a large part in my decisions in life. I wanted to learn everything I can about them and more. I still continue to listen to lectures and continued adulation about the technical part of my technician job which allows me to teach my fellow technician new technologies and ways of doing things at work. Learning is never ending. I believe you can learn something new every day.
I began martial arts when I was 5 years old and I have never stopped. I have practice over 6 styles over the course of those years earning a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do/ Hapkido and a 2nd degree in Rue Tae. I have competed in Olympic point sparing and made it to qualifications for the Olympics, as well as dabbled in mma fighting and Muay Tae matches. I believe in respect towards everyone, disciple throughout, and being prepared for any situation. I believe in teaching others proper use of skills that builds confidence and, if needed, to protect one self and other around them. Martial arts has always been a great way for me to relax and meditated when I needed it the most and it brings me much joy allowing to share the art with others.
I don't mind tutoring online or in person. Online I generally can at any time but I am restricted to Wendsdays, some Thursday's, every other Saturday, and every Sunday in person. I generally can try and work my schedule around my students with no problem. My base rate is $90 per/hr in person and $50 per/hr for online sessions.
I am looking forward to meeting and helping you in your endeavors, no matter how big or small. My love of teaching stems from my love of learning new things. I have always loved the idea of sharing my knowledge with people and allowing them to, in turn, share it with someone else.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
