Rowan University (Master's)
I earned an Elementary Education Degree with a minor in English from Rowan University. I then returned to receive an M.A. in Reading, with a Reading Specialist Certificate. For your information, I have taught K-College and am presently teaching at two community colleges in the area in the areas of reading and writing. I tutor younger students in Reading. I have a proven track record of increasing reading levels in below-level and on-level readers, and an ability to move between grade levels and assignments without difficulty. I also have experience with at-risk students with medical, emotional and behavioral issues. Using state testing assessment grading experience, I can also assist students with decoding testing instructions and provide methods to use while taking standardized testing for improved results.
I would like to help YOUR child to do better in school and have a better experience, especially with reading, which is important for all subjects.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My original degree is a B.A. in Elementary Education, with a minor in English. I have taught reading and math for grades K-8, specialized reading programs for K-2, a combined 1st/2nd grade alternative classroom, a 2nd grade after school reading program, a 5th grade classroom, and a 7th grade alternative classroom. I have also taught 5th - 8th grade in an alternative school. Throughout my career, I have also tutored students in various subjects in various grades.
I have also graded standardized tests for various grade levels in the areas of reading, math, and writing. I can help your child with study skills for these tests. Please be sure to contact me if your child needs help!
As a Reading Specialist, I have been trained in diagnosing reading phonics difficulties in students by using tests such as the Bader and the QRI IV to pinpoint where students are having difficulty in vocabulary/phonics. I have learned the best strategies to aid students in developing these areas by using specific best practices for each area.
I am a Reading Specialist, and teach Reading at Burlington County College and Gloucester County College. I have taught Title I programs, and Chapter 192 programs. As a tutor at Burlington County College, I tutor Reading, English, and Writing.
I have worked for two different standardized test development companies in the areas of reading, math, and writing. Using this assessment grading experience, I assist students with decoding testing instructions and provide methods to use while taking standardized testing for improved results. My experience with these tests as a teacher administering these tests, provides me with the experience to assist students to avoid the many pitfalls of being affected by the testing environment. Let me help your child do well on standardized tests!
