I graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). I am currently a third grade teacher for students with Special Needs. I take pride in helping my students who may be far below grade level to mastery of grade level and even further.
On a daily basis I plan and implement curriculum aligned to the NJCCCS and Common Core State Standards and Teaching Strategies including Math in Focus and Core Knowledge.
In addition, I administer and analyze literacy assessments (i.e., DRA) and math assessments to place students according to their academic strengths into cooperative learning groups and guided reading groups. I continuously collect data through formative and summative assessments to track student progress and inform future instruction.
I am currently a teacher of Students with Behavior Disabilities and have been teaching students with various disabilities for a few years. I am very educated in the needs of our students with Special Needs and I pride myself in finding ways that reach them.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a teacher in Newark public schools, I teach the Common Core each day.
