Bio

My interest in teaching is not due to circumstance nor an ambition to be a professor at a top university. Instead it is out of pure passion and a desire to assist aspiring individuals who need that extra push and guidance to reach their goals, in many case even discover new goals. My interest in teaching is not due to circumstance nor an ambition to be a professor at a top university. Instead it is out of pure passion and a desire to assist aspiring individuals who need that extra push and guidance to reach their goals, in many case even discover new goals. I still remember my professor of Basic Financial Management at my Grad school and my Math tutor at high school, whose one of a kind teaching style mesmerized me to fall in love with numbers, after which rest is history - a successful career in finance. They were both experienced industry professionals yet great academics. I followed their footsteps and in a way, I want to reciprocate that experience for my students.

I have tutored in the past in various capacities, starting at the age of 17, when I just graduated from High School teaching math and science for 4th to 8th grade kids around the neighborhood. Not only driving their interest in studying but eventually improving their grades leading to great parent/student satisfaction. When I was a 2nd year MBA student at UMKC when I tutored Derivative Finance, considered to be one of the most complex of finance courses, to a few students on campus. Lastly, one and off at my day job, coaching colleagues and trainees, on financial modeling and theories as it applied to the business.

I am adamant about using pictures and real-world examples as much as possible to teach and describe concepts which is also why, in many occasions, I have received commendations as a "good teacher".

I consider my self number savvy and so math and finance are my preferred subjects where I can offer my best services.

I have a simple policy when it comes to tutoring: There should not be any obligation. If you are not satisfied and would like me to change my methods, please communicate freely. I don't want to waste your money nor time, if you aren't getting the best out of it.

The Series 6 is a test of the financial representative's ability to understand Mutual Funds and Variable insurance products like Annuities. During my career at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor and Sr. Portfolio manager I have advised and sold many millions of Mutual Funds and Annuities to investors/clients following high standards of care and compliance. My clients have often times praised me for explaining the features of the these complex products in simple terms so they could trust me in what they are buying. If I could do that, teaching an upcoming student should be a much more doable task.

The Series 63 is similar to Series 6, but State specific and test of the financial representative's ability to understand and sell stocks, mutual funds and insurance products to investors. During my career at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor and Sr. Portfolio manager I held the Series 7 and the Series 66 that are much higher then this level and have advised and sold many millions of Stocks, Options, Mutual Funds and Annuities to investors/clients following high standards of care and compliance. I have a great talent of breaking down complex topics in simple to understand the trust of my clients and If I could do that, teaching an upcoming student should be a much more doable task.

The Series 65 is a test of the financial representative's ability to understand various investment tools such as Stocks, Mutual Funds and Variable insurance products like Annuities and the license to ONLY give advise NOT TO SELL. During my career at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor and Sr. Portfolio manager I have advised AND sold many millions of Mutual Funds and Annuities to close to a 100 investors/clients following high standards of care and compliance. My clients have often times praised me for explaining the features of the these complex products in simple terms and NOT like typical Sales guys or Brokers. That ability to recommend a product with out commission bias is what is needed for a Series 65 rep and I had played that role using the more higher licenses such as the 7 and 66. With that I am more than confident about teaching an upcoming student/Investment adviser to pass the test and be a responsible Adviser. Thanks!

Derivatives expert !!

Dear Wyzant folks, I just wanted to share my experience with Shyam recently. I have a huge interview coming up at a large Bank that requires me to analyze a real life business transaction that happened recently. The transaction involves currency risks, Intrest rate risk, business risk and what not. Although I had done numerous text book scenarios, this did pose a challenge as it was not about complexity but creativity. Thats when I realized i needed someone different from a typical tutor and gave Shyam a chance although he is new to this platform. My bet was right, within 2 hrs he had me working on a presentation and a rapid fire conversation that boosted my confidence significantly. Amazing Tutor

I have my Series 3 scheduled for July 29th and was consistently struggling with some concepts and was looking for an out of the box tutor who can help me break the code.
