I currently teach sixth grade language arts in an award winning Blue Ribbon school. I have been teaching for 11 years and have had the opportunity to teach students from fourth grade to eighth grade. I also did my student teaching in second grade so I understand what it takes to get through to students of all ages.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had extensive training in understanding the common core requirements and how these will be exhibited on the PARCC test. I continue to look at and refine my teaching practices to align with these new standards. Having proctored the PARCC last year, I have knowledge of the types of questions students are being asked.
