Bio

Hello, my name is Jake and I am a physics graduate from Binghamton University. I received my Bachelors of Science in Physics in December 2019.

I love teaching students in general. I have a passion for physics and mathematics. I enjoy teaching students not only the process to solve questions, but the understanding of the math or physics. In my opinion, understanding of the information is pertinent to learning the material and being able to perform well in science and math.

In my opinion, understanding of the information is pertinent to learning the material and being able to perform well in science and math.

My tutoring style for physics composes of a practice based approach where I would focus on a specific topic, or topics if time permits, that day and teach the material to the student. Focusing more on understanding the physics than just the process of solving these problems. Physics problems can be adapted in many ways to throw students off and confuse them. Understanding the physics behind these questions is important to being able to adapt to questions on exams which can seem difficult at first sight. Once the underlying physics is understood, the student will be able to tackle any question on that topic because of they will be able to apply the physics to the question and not just the mathematics.
Mathematics is the language of physicists. We call it a "tool" that can be used to solve physics problems. A key understanding in mathematics is also very important in being able to succeed in a physics class. If a student is struggling with math, I can focus on teaching the math necessary for physics. An analogous situation would be building a house. You cannot build a house without knowing how to use the proper tool, for example a hammer. Everyone knows how to use a hammer but can they build a house? Not necessarily the case. To relate back to physics and math, many individuals know math, however, if they are not capable of using math effectively enough to solve physics problems, the student will struggle. My main focus is teaching the understanding of physics phenomena so the student can adapt to questions, but, understanding the physics is imp
