Bio

Hello! My name is Han C. and I am a student at Rutgers studying Cell Bio, Neuro, and Psych. I am on track to graduate magna cum laude and have recently completed research focused on the concepts of learning in young students. I am in the Seattle area this summer to volunteer for a nonprofit called Young Life. In Fall 2023, I plan to apply to graduate school for Neuroscience. In about two months, I will begin work at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center.

About myself as a teacher, I believe that just because someone may have extensive knowledge in a field, doesn't mean they'll make a good instructor. Likewise, someone may be great at teaching in certain methods, but fails to reach other students. I have about 4 years of experience tutoring students from the ages of 5-12. I used to tutor my brothers and neighbors from the area, where I employed different teaching strategies that catered to them, such as sensory appeal: flow charts, figures, and drawings for visual learners, or constant vocal repetition for auditory learners, or a combination of different teaching styles. I believe learning to not only be knowledge of a topic, but also the understanding of the relationships between those topics. This conceptual mapping of different topics can branch from within a single subject, and reach into multiple. School curriculums are designed almost arbitrarily (sectioning the subjects into topics), to make subjects easier to digest, but not enough emphasis is placed on the connection between these topics. The connections, though, is where true understanding lies.

While teaching your child, I will cater to their needs. What specific topics do they need help with? What particular aspects or concepts of a topic are they struggling with? And once the obtain that mastery, I will go a step further and bridge the gaps between topics (like understanding the relationship between dividing and multiplying, instead of just knowing both separately).

Please feel free to contact me ANY time for questions or just to chat! Thank

I have tutored students from the ages of 5-12 for about four years. I also completed one year of lab research dedicated to the aspects and styles of learning and teaching that are most receptive to students. I also majored in Neuroscience and Psychology, with a focus in education, and while teaching, I employ different styles to cater to each individual students. Some may be visual sensory learners, or tactile learners, or a combination of multiple, which I find out and use to best teach them.

Basketball

I have been a member of the Rutgers Club basketball team since my freshman year. My fellow teammates are many college-level players, who were scouted and recruited at the Division 2 and 3 levels. I myself also played high school basketball, against schools in northern NJ, near NYC, an area notorious for producing some of the world's greatest players such as Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, and Karl-Anthony Towns. Along with being a player, I am also an avid fan of the NBA, watching analytics, gameplay, and analyses, every single day.
