Seton Hall University (Spanish)
New York University (Master's)
Hello and welcome to my page! I am a graduate from Seton Hall University and New York University respectively with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a Master’s degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. I am a former World Language Teacher K-5. I also have experience translating and interpreting as a medical interpreter for a large health clinic where I was a liaison between the Spanish speaking patients and English speaking staff. My ability to put people at ease and understand cultural nuances and dialects enabled me to ensure patients received the best possible health outcomes.
For over 12 years, I have been helping people from around the globe to thrive in new cultural environments. During this time, I have been an award winning “Instructor of the Year” with my company for outstanding client satisfaction and piloting of new programs and subsequently afforded the opportunity to represent my company as a Language Instructor aboard a famous cruise line teaching daily, fun Spanish lessons to international cruise ship travelers. I can’t tell you how much of a great experience it was coaching travelers on how to navigate a new language and culture during their global excursions!
Throughout my career, I’ve helped people of international backgrounds improve their English and Spanish proficiency through customized instruction in speaking and writing for groups, virtual classrooms, and private lessons. Clients entailed the pharmaceutical and telecommunication industries, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, top-rated charter schools, and travelers. I also taught Kids programs and Total Immersion classes with students speaking only in the language they are learning for the duration of their course. Through this experience, I have gained a good understanding of how students learn languages and better understand how to creatively customize their language learning experience for optimal results. Some of the approaches to language learning that have been beneficial to students and have improved their performance include but are not limited to doing initial assessments of students to check their language speaking capabilities then creating simulations in which they can practice speaking as if they were in a real life situation. Many of my students’ speaking abilities and confidence improved significantly after reading articles in Spanish and English then having discussions around the article. I also found creative ways to get students to achieve speaking like a native speaker through pronunciation exercises and gave various writing assignments which improved their writing skills. Lastly, I’ve used videotaping so they can see themselves speaking and interacting in the language.
The exposure to international students is my favorite. I love having the opportunity to work with international students. It’s somewhat of a reciprocal relationship; I teach them but at the same time, they teach me about their culture which is a rich and rewarding experience for me. We learn so much from each other.
My approach to teaching language is to customize lessons based on a student’s needs and lifestyle. I also like using an audiovisual approach. I specialize in Spanish tutoring and I can also help you with Writing in English.
I need 24-hour notice for cancellations. You will be charged the regular hourly rate for late notice.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies! Hello and welcome to my page! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
