My time as an undergraduate Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering Major at the University of Delaware allowed me to strengthen my depth in math, science, and critical thinking skills as well as learn about the hard work and dedication required to achieve top grades in demanding courses. During my studies, I balanced full semesters of challenging engineering courses while also being on a top Division I club lacrosse team that competed on a national level. As an engineer, some of my fondest memories include late nights stuck in the lab or the library with my fellow classmates where we would share our knowledge and ideas to solve the complex problems we were presented. A challenging engineering curriculum showed me that teamwork and solving problems together is immensely satisfying. I am dedicated to continuing sharing my knowledge and ideas with students so they too can acquire the confidence to logically solve problems, whether they be homework problems or real world applications. I have a strong desire.
I can promise that I will take the time to understand how each student learns and tailor my efforts in a way that will allow him or her to succeed. I believe that an understanding of the fundamentals rather than simply 'getting to the answer' is paramount to continued success. A solid foundation of fundamentals allows students to solve literally anything. My main area of focus for tutoring will be subjects related to math and science and the SAT. I also tutor for Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Business Administration courses taken by undergraduate students.
Why am I qualified to tutor? I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Business Administration from the University of Delaware. I currently work as a Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer for an automated manufacturing company where I apply the principles I learned in school on a daily basis. I have had success in educating my employees as well as learning quite a bit from them.
In addition, throughout high school and college, I have consistently been drawn to math and science courses simply because they are fascinating and they make sense to me. Among the courses I have studied and continue to apply to real world applications are algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, differential equations, statistics, linear algebra, physics, statics, dynamics, materials science, machine design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, electricity, basic chemistry as well as biology, anatomy and the physics of the human body. Fundamental understanding of these subjects has given me an appreciation for what happens around all of us that I am delighted to share with others. I have also studied business, marketing, finance, accounting and have over three years of work experience where my overall education has been a large part of my success.
Learning is fun when you approach it in a logical way. I look forward to sharing the joy of solving problems with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During my four years of undergraduate study at the University of Delaware, I minored in Business Administration. This minor involved two business courses in addition to finance, marketing, and accounting. I have also worked for over three years for a small automated manufacturing company. As a result, I have had and continue to have direct exposure to business as it applies to the real world.
I played lacrosse for 9 years throughout middle school, high school and college. The four years I played at the University of Delaware, I played for a Division I club team that competed on a national level. I have a love for the game and would like to pass that on to young people.
I spent 4 years as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware studying Mechanical Engineering. I successfully earned my Bachelor's degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.33. Following my college education, I acquired a job as a mechanical engineer at an automated manufacturing company where I have worked for over three years. I have since been promoted to Project Manager and continue to design and build complex machines as I interface with my colleagues and customers.
As an engineer that works in an office, I have used Microsoft Outlook every business day for over three years now. I also had three internships prior to acquiring my job where I used Microsoft Outlook on a daily basis. In addition to the mail feature of Outlook, I am proficient in the use of the calendar, scheduling events / appointments, journal entries, and add-ins, such as CRM (Customer Resource Management).
