About Ken

Energetic, effective, and very experienced math tutor looking to help you or your child reach their math goals. Over 25 years teaching and tutoring in both public and private schools in the Princeton area. My current primary job is at the Chapin School, where I teach middle school math to grades 6, 7, 8. I have also been employed for 10 years as a part-time Math Specialist at the nearby, and very highly regarded Lawrenceville School, where I have helped guide dozens of advanced high school learners to the path towards mathematical success. Additionally I teach Geometry and (sometimes) Algebra I at the nearby Hun School in the summers. I worked for 12 years as a Middle/Upper School math and Special Education teacher at the nearby Pennington School. I hold a Master's degree in Education, as well as NJ Standard Certification in Middle School Math, Special Needs, and Elementary Education.

I believe that my extensive experience in special education uniquely qualifies and enables me to effectively work with a variety of students and adult learners with varying backgrounds and learning styles, and to rapidly identify their weaknesses, and to work within their unique learning style to foster success. I am truly passionate about helping students to succeed and I take each case personally and will communicate regularly and effectively with you and (if you choose) your child's school.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Experienced and efficient math tutor

Our school district has a very competitive honors math program and so we were looking for someone with experience and expertise to tutor my son in algebra 1 and geometry. Ken was the perfect match. He quickly identified my son's weak spots and broke down the material in a way that made sense to him. He provided review material and texts that were rigorous and in line with our district's curriculum
