Why am I a tutor? One simple reason! – To help young people gain the confidence to reach their goals! I have a tremendous 'passion' for tutoring young people. My infectious enthusiasm motivates my students to accept the challenge to be the best they can be. Additionally, I make sure we have a little fun as well. There is no better way to get a student to learn than to think they are having fun.
Tutoring Style – I motivate the students to become the very best they can be. Sure, plenty of time is spent reviewing the Math principles, but that is the easy part, improving their self confidence is more critical.
Experience – I am a certified teacher (working at both the middle and high school levels since 2006) and I have been tutoring since 2004. I mainly focus on SAT/ACT Test Prep but I also do tutoring for regular Math classes. For the SAT/ACT, I mostly focus on Math Prep, but I also provide valuable tips for the other sections: writing, critical reading, english, and science.
I actually take the official SAT / ACT exams myself periodically, since I believe it is critical for me to be current with the material being covered. Due to this approach, I am able to share the “test day” experience with my students and offer them a unique insight.
If you decide to work with me, I can assure you that you will gain the confidence to reach your full potential on these college admission tests, and you will no longer be afraid of this test. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a classroom teacher of Algebra 1 on several occasions during my teaching career. I also also tutored students for their Algebra 1 exams many times. I have worked with mainly high school students but I have also worked with middle school students as well.
I have been helping students with their SAT prep for almost 10 years. I primarily help with the Math section but I also assist students with the other sections too. All of my students have been able to raise their scores significantly.
