I am a teacher and professor with 12 years of experience in NJ schools and 6 years at NYU and Montclair State University. As a high school teacher, I taught various sections of high school Mathematics and Science. I have also been awarded the Geraldine R. Dodge Fellowship Award for alternate route teachers.
I have been tutoring for SAT, ACT, GRE, and other standardized tests for many years. Besides a Ph.D. in Science (Physical Geography and Climatology) from the oldest and most prestigious university in Russia, Moscow University named after M.Lomonosov, I have an M.F.A. in creative writing, so I can teach both math and verbal sections of SAT, ACT, and GRE. I am an award-winning writer and poet, the author of nine collections of poetry and translations in Russian, and my English-Language manuscript is forthcoming in 2016 from a nationally recognized New York based press. I am also the editor as a major bilingual literary project and a co-editor of the first comprehensive English-language anthology of Russian Poetry, the award-winning volume that came out in 2015 the UK. I am one of those student-oriented teachers: my teaching is flexible, creative, and invariably focused on the individual student and his/her specific learning needs, and not on some rigid rules or practices.
Lately, I have been successfully teaching via Skype, which proves to be an exceptional teaching tool. It allows me to tutor students from all states and all walks of life. Meet me once and you will see that I am YOUR teacher!

Irina tutored my son for SAT and ACT testing. He was having a difficult time with math and she really helped him. He has always had difficulty with standardized tests as he tends to panic and not finish. She helped him to learn to slow down, relax and work the problem. We saw measurable improvement in his score after Irina worked with him for just a few sessions. My only complaint is that I didn't find her sooner! You won’t go wrong with Irina.
Irina tutored by son in math specifically for ACT preparation, the second time. She was intrumentive with his score improving. I would highly recomend her and use her again.
Irina is very nice, patient, understanding, and clever in making you understand the material. She is quite funny as well. She helps you visualize things in an easier way and helps you solve the best and fastest way. Only had one math session but looking forward to 10 more with her! I know she has already increased my score on the gre that I will take in August. I have bad test anxiety and she changes your perspective of the exam so that it is not so intimidating. That being said, having a great mind set before taking the gre and knowing how to approach it is a must. I am looking forward to more sessions. I deffinitely recommend her.
Very helpful and knowledgeable abut the GRE! I have a very short time frame before I take the exam and I wish I had approached her sooner!
Irina has been tutoring me to prepare for the GRE. I have learned so much from her and she has been beyond helpful. So happy I met her! Highly recommend her if you are struggling in math, and reading.
Irina left a great first impression. My 17 year old son had his first SAT lesson with her yesterday. She is knowledgeable and patient! So far she gets the highest mark!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
