Monmouth University (Special Education)
Welcome to my profile!! I have been a special education teacher for the last 13 years. Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a teacher and in 2002 that dream became a reality. The past 10 years, I have worked in a private special education school, working with students with various disabilities. The most rewarding thing about teaching to me, is seeing the smile on my student's faces when they realize they can be successful. I am creative, enthusiastic, energetic, and use a hands-on, therapeutic approach to teaching. I especially enjoy tutoring because I feel the one on one environment, especially with students with special needs, can provide a successful learning environment. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to really think outside the box. I have privately tutored students in the home environment for 2 years. I also tutored at another tutoring center when I was in college. I am also qualified in teaching social skills, STEM projects, independent living skills, career readiness, life skills, and highly trained in teaching students with ASD. I also have experience with ABA and sensory integration.
A little more about me. I have 3 crazy cats, that sometimes think they are dogs. I also am currently enrolled in a certification program to become a certified therapeutic riding instructor. That is to teach students with special needs how to ride a horse.
What makes me an outstanding special education tutor is my personality, experience and knowledge. I have the skills to get students to learn and enjoy learning. I have a Bachelors of Science in Special Education degree from Monmouth University. I also have a Teacher of the Handicapped and Elementary Education certification. I am highly trained to teach students with varies disabilities. I have been trained in social skills, ABA, life skills, independent living skills, sensory integration. I also am CPR/First Aid certified.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor this subject because I have been a special needs teacher for the past 13 years. I am teacher of the handicapped certified and have a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education degree. I am skilled in modifying lessons to fit the needs of my students. In my past tutoring experiences, I used different hands on activities, games, ipad, etc to teach a specific skill. I also use ABA and sensory integration methods when necessary.
