My name is Aalok and I am a full time professional tutor.
I am honored to be considered one of WyzAnt's finest (top 0.3%).
I can help students who are struggling, students who are looking to excel, and everyone else in between.

I can also help students applying to college/grad school. I'm able to help with school selection, letters of recommendation, essay/personal statement, resume, interviews, early action/decision, financial aid, athletic scholarships, and much more. You are guided each step of the way from start to finish. Space is very limited!

I strive for complete satisfaction and never charge for a session unless you are completely satisfied.

"I wish I had called you sooner." That's what I hear most often from clients/students/parents.

I won't go so far as to say I make tutoring fun, but I make sure it's engaging and meaningful. Tutoring isn't just memorization and repetitive practice drills; that's passive and wastes time. I've even worked with other tutors and educators to hone their skills and improve their teaching styles.

I have over seven years of experience working as a full time professional tutor. I have taught/tutored over 1500 students. I've taught over 700 students in a classroom setting and well over 800 students online. I've individually tutored well over 350 students. I am experienced in academic/test prep tutoring from grade school through college.

I also have experience working with students that have ADHD, dyslexia, students with IEP's, and other documented learning disabilities. I don't have formal training in specialized education, but rather successful experience. While other tutors may shy away from students who they think might be challenging to teach, I embrace these opportunities.

My experience tutoring so many subjects and exams has given me insight that lets me simplify even the most complex material. That's why I believe myself to be such an effective tutor. So whether it's SAT Math or ACT English or GMAT Argument Analysis or GRE Verbal or MCAT Physics or college level chemistry, I break the material down into simpler concepts.

Experience also allows me to be flexible. Your algebra teacher pushed the test back and you'd rather review solubility rules and titration from today's chemistry lab? No worries. Suddenly remember halfway through a physics problem that you also have a pre-calc quiz tomorrow and want to spend the rest of our session reviewing for that? You got it.

I also offer advanced math/science coaching for school competitions.

Standardized Tests:
NJ-ASK, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, AP courses/exams, IB courses/exams, GED, GRE, Praxis, etc. If you don't see your test here, just ask!

Academic Subjects:
Algebra 1/2, Trig, Geometry, Pre-Calc, Stats, Earth Science, Biology, Chem, Physics, English, Literature, History, Social Studies, etc. If you don't see your subject here, just ask!

Some Student Successes: 350+ points score improvement on the SAT, several 800s on the SAT and SAT subject tests, 20+ points score improvement on the GRE, 8+ points improvement on the MCAT, 30 point improvement on the Math Praxis, 34+ on the ACT (with 36's in Science, Math, and Reading), and 5's an various AP exams.

While I cannot guarantee scores like the ones above, I do promise my very best to help you get your highest score possible!

I reside in Toms River, have an office in Morganville, and also work on certain days in the Hackensack, Paramus, Bergen, and surrounding areas. I can also meet with clients at their homes, a library, or at a cafe. As my schedule allows, I can tutor students beyond 30 minutes of travel for a higher hourly rate. I also tutor extensively online and have worked with students in Maryland, Texas, Russia, London, and India.

I offer no-cost consultations (up to 30 minutes) to all students over the phone or online. Free consultations in person may only be available in Toms River or Morganville (as my schedule allows).

Education is an investment. Just an increase of 100 points on the SAT, 3 points on the ACT, or a 0.2 increase in GPA can significantly increase merit scholarship awards and dramatically raise a student's chances of being accepted to a better school. Unfortunately, far too many parents and students find this out once it's too late.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I'm more than happy to speak with you.

"I wish I had called you sooner." Each day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test score that will only make it harder to recover from. Get in touch today to schedule your free consultation!

My cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance due to high demand (You must let me know by 6pm Thursday if you wish to cancel or change a lesson taking place on the weekend). It is best to get in touch with me as early as possible so we have time to coordinate our schedules. I can try to accommodate last minute requests, but cannot guarantee them.

Weather policy: In the event of inclement weather, I will make every reasonable effort to keep my commitments and keep on schedule. I'll notify you in advance if we need to make any changes. I just ask the same in return; please do not wait until the very last second to make a decision when it comes to weather related changes.

Travel Policy: Minimum session length or travel charge apply for travel that exceeds 30 minutes.

An integral part of academic and test-prep tutoring consists of making sure students are studying effectively. I've seen too many students study very hard but not learn anything or retain anything. College Counseling

Over the years I have worked with numerous high school students taking the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. With many of those students, I would sit down with them and look at when these exams are offered and how they line up with final exams or other activities. I also discuss if and when a student should re-take certain standardized exams and when the best time to take certain exams would be (such as end of Junior year or early Senior year). I also sit down with students and parents and talk about course selection, in addition to extra-curricular activities. I spend time going over deadlines in detail and talking to them about early decision, early action, and rolling admissions. I tell my students to work on their essays and the Common Application during the summer so that once the school year starts, they have that much less to do. In addition to that, I discuss with students which teachers and advisers they ask for letter of recommendation. I also help review essays and have helped many students put together applications and edit resumes. I've had a number of parents tell me that I've been more helpful than their son's/daughter's guidance counselor at school.

Terrific SAT tutor

My son has only had 2 sessions with Aalok but he has already picked up some very useful strategies for taking the SAT. He has also shown him how to quickly solve some of the math problems that you may see on the test. Aalok has emphasized that just getting the correct answer is not good enough. You want to do it as quickly as possible in order to achieve a high score. We look forward to continuing to work with Aalok.

Knowledgeable Tutor

Aalok provide md great tips for the SAT and was extremely patient with the practice problems. He provided a significant amount of practice problems which helped with the actual test.

Excellent

I'm excelling in many aspects of english and math. He adjusts to your ability and has a lot of patience. I am learning to apply myself more than ever and my confidence in my abilities is gradually increasing since I've been going.

Helpful

Aalok provided me with GRE Drill questions previous to our meeting. During our session we went through a number of questions and after completing our session he then sent the answers and the process to get those answers to me which I found to be particularly helpful because I was able to see again where I went wrong at my own pace.

Accommodating and knowledgable

This was out second online tutoring session with Aalok..he tries hard to work around your schedule to accommodate. He is knowledgable in his teachings and keeps the interest of the student..my son does not complain when it's time for tutoring! Do not hesitate when choosing Aalok as your next tutor!

Helpful and dedicated tutor!

I was struggling in my college-level physics class with knowing how to apply equations and how to set up the problems so that I can solve them. He knew what to do in order to help me and made sure I understood what we were doing to solve the problems we went over. Aalok is a great tutor and went above and beyond with making sure I had all the resources to succeed in my class.

What can Aalok teach you?

Aalok can teach any science discipline with great depth. Same can be said about math. So, do not hesitate asking for help.

Choose this tutor! Make your life easier and your child will definitely benefit from his teaching

If you were thumbing through trying to find a tutor, just stop here and pick Aalok (Al). Yes he may be a little more expensive than some but in this case I believe you get what you pay for. We've had several tears over the years and we will leave Al is top notch. My son actually does not complain about doing his online sessions as he has dreaded seeing some tutors in the past. My son is a Junior in high school with a learning disorder and ADHD. He is prepping him for the ACT and SAT. As my son has taken once and did not do very well in reading and writing. Al assign homework which is very clear to understand what my son needs to do. He keep you in the loop as much as you want him to. The best part is Al really does care about your child and I can tell he enjoys his work as I have seen firsthand.

Renee, 15 lessons with Aalok

Excellent teacher

He teaches Geometry to my daughter. He seems professional, methodical in his approach and my daughter seems to like his way of teaching. However the grades at school will be a better indicator of his performance.
