Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Chemical engineering)
University of Rochester (MBA)
I am a manufacturing process and product development engineer working in the paper industry. I got all A's in Math and Science in High School graduating with honors. Twenty years later the school gave me the Outstanding Alumnus Award honoring my achievements in industry. I got an 800 on the math achievement test. I earned a BS in Chemical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute with 3.6/4 GPA on a scholastic scholarship. I have an MBA in finance from the University of Rochester with 3.3 GPA. Currently I sell process equipment I design and build. I know a lot about these subjects and what they can do for you.
Education prepares you for a career and improves the your ability to deal with life. It goes through a number of stages and patterns to reach the goal of an efficient and trained mind. I will find out where you are on the various paths and help you to go forward. I have extensive background in math, chemistry, and physics. I can give you a good introduction to these subjects. Please bring to the first session some old tests and few paragraphs what your goals are, areas of difficulty, and anything else I should know.
I have tutored a seventh grader in math bringing her tests from C to A (96 and higher) plus imparted a confidence in this area. I have tutored four High School Seniors in math. I look forward to helping people learn to think and master the ability to take tests. As a manager of a research group I encouraged my people to grow. We had the most productive group by all measures. Each person is different with different rate limiting steps. Let me find yours and help you get past it.
I look forward to meeting you and hearing about your goals and why you are seeking individual support and attention. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I know algebra, geometry, trigonometry, chemistry, and physics well and can add the practical experience of actually using them in my career. I have a BS in chemical engineering with about 10 chemistry courses. Physics is the basis for mechanical designs (I design and sell specialty machines). Algebra is to the sciences as the alphabet is to reading.
Currently I work in my own lab making surface treatments to change the properties of papers and films.
