I began my career as an accountant. I worked in the accounting field for 11 years and really did not enjoy it at all. I eventually became ill from the stress and my doctor strongly suggested I get rid of my stress factor or end up with a heart attack. So I decided that my dream was to teach. I enrolled back in college and received my certification for general education K-8.
I began teaching in 2001 fifth grade and loved it. The year after I moved to teach eighth grade and really fell in love with teaching. I have since then taught eighth grade for seven years and seventh for four years. My strongest and favorite subject is Math. I absolutely love teaching it. I have not formally tutored but I do give extra help to my students anytime that it is needed.
I have been teaching basic and advanced math for middle school now for 11 years. My students love my teaching methods and my passion for math. I have had students that have despised math and when I'm done showing them how great it is have excelled. I specialize in 5 through 8 Math, pre-algebra, and algebra.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught 8th grade for 7 years. I have been preparing my students for the COOP all of these years. Thankfully they have done very well. I am familiar with the techniques and types of questions asked on the exam.
