My passion for teaching stems from a lifelong desire of never ending learning and improving ones overall level of intelligence. I have been blessed to work with a large diverse population of students at every age level, and every comprehensive level. I teach and tutor all subjects, in schools, small personalized group settings, as well as one on one individualized tutoring. I enjoy giving the attention to students who are in need of extra help but who may not (for what ever the reason) may not be able to receive it in school. On the other hand, I have worked with students who just need the extra "brush up" skills to feel comfortable as it relates to assessment and/or standardized testing.
I have worked extensively with students at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school) regarding various math techniques, including "pre-algebra", algebra 1 and 2. Using specific learning tools and comprehension skills to make the steps required in algebra become more relatable and easier to understand is necessary for the applications needed in obtaining the correct answers.
Not only did I obtain my Masters in Teaching through Monmouth University, I participated in an extensive Student Teaching program for six months, and ultimately received an A through my Cooperating and University instructors. Additionally, I am Highly Qualified in all subject levels.
My Elementary Education degree and experience has allowed me the opportunity to teach all subjects from math, to science, to language arts, as well as current events and world history. This is probably the best part of being an elementary teacher, and I get to integrate each one so they work hand in hand with one another. I like to assign challenging and interesting homework (brush up skills) and provide fair assessments and periodic progress reports.
I welcome the opportunity and look forward to hearing from you ! I am excited and up for the challenge in helping you achieve your academic goals, are you ? I am available to work with you in either a public setting, such as a library, or if you prefer, in your home (as long as it is quiet enough to concentrate !). I am usually available after school hours and also on weekends. Let's work together and make this year the one that makes a difference ! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
