I have been helping my fellow students informally since the start of high school. After graduating from MIT I feel like I can continue to assist others with a desire to learn and excel. I understand that some, if not many, students benefit greatly from a more one-on-one learning approach and I look forward to passing on my knowledge and the study skills I have learned to the next generation.

David is a very caring person, who has a professional and encouraging attitude. He is consistent and determined, and my daughter is doing well. My daughter has a lot to catch up on and David feels he can help. I believe he can help my daughter to gain confidence and understand math and catch up to her grade level.
David has been coming for several weeks now, and he is working diligently with my daughter. He is very pleasant to be around and makes us feel very comfortable. He is always on time, and goes right to work on the next lesson. I appreciate his patience and his warm demeanor.
David has integrity that I have not seen in people for many years!
Yesterday, for the first time in my daughter's life, she told me she actually enjoys learning math. I could not believe my ears! Thanks you so much David!!
He did not specialize in physics but was able to help me and he taught me new ways to do advanced math.
David got to our house, and my son and David hit the ground running!! My son was very comfortable with David because David knows his stuff, and when he left here my son was able to return to school with a better idea about calculus. We are excited that he will be helping my son through exams, and after moving into calculus honors, I'm sure David will be like a new family member by the time it's all over. What a nice guy. Thank you.
David is an excellent tutor. He is calm and patient and directs the student without giving the answers. He makes the student look for the solution.
My son was the victim of some pretty poor high school math teaching, but David was able to undo the harm, get him back on track, significantly improve his grades and understanding of the subject matter.
Personally, David is quiet, pleasant, always on time, and reliable.
David is teaching my son who is taking a freshman business calculus class in college. He takes the time to make sure he understands the theory, the rationale and the appropriate formula to use. While Calculus is a challenge for my son, he appreciates the way David teaches, explaining the issues and ensuring that he understands the concepts. We would highly recommend him as a tutor, he really cares about the students understanding the topic rather than just memorization and it is much appreciated!
Have to thank David for coming over at the last minute to help my daughter prepare for her final SAT. She said he cleared up a lot of issues she had with the last test and also gave her some tips on taking the test. Thanks again David for coming over so quickly.
I always walk away from my sessions with David with a understanding of the subject this is my second semester with Dave and I've already asked him for his help next semester!
I emailed David and he got back to me right away. My son had two sessions with David. We were visiting my sister at the beach. Now we can have a tutor in NYC and at the beach! My son thought David was a great tutor.
I had some trouble with a MicroEcon professor who thought teaching was giving difficult problem sets. David helped me sort through the haze and learn micro.
Though Physics was far from his primary subject, David was able to help me break down problems into concepts which could be easily explained from that point on. Helped someone who struggled with word problems to get an A in a notoriously difficult Rutgers (New Brunswick) physics class.
David is very helpful and patient. He has really help with Algebra2 and Chemistry. David is an excellent tutor. I would recommend him if you need help.
We are very happy with David's tutoring. My son is taking BC calculus in high school which is taught at a college level. David is very smart and is able to work with my son so he can understand some very difficult concepts. David is very flexible, as sometimes I will call him on short notice and he will always try to work with our schedule. I would highly recommend David.
We found him to be a very smart guy but he did not work well with our situation. He seemed to have trouble connecting and conveying the data.
David is knowledgeable, patient and easy to interact with. He has increased my son's confidence with Pre-Calculus. David is also a good role model for aspiring students. David did such a good job with my son and his Pre-Calculus course, we are going to have him work with our daughter with her geometry course.
David is very knowledgeable in chemistry. He helped understand the methods that I needed the extra help in, and took the time to explain them clearly. He has flexible hours and is always on time for our appointments. I would recommend him to everyone. You won't be disappointed.
David W. has been a Math tutor for my daughter for more than a year. Her confidence on the subject has steadily increased under his guidance. His patience and tact while explaining challenging topics has enabled my daughter to develop a more positive attitude toward learning math.
David was an amazing tutor! I asked him to tutor me for the first time, a straight four hour session. He had no problem with that; he just had to work me into his schedule. When I first emailed him, he contacted me within 3 hours. This is the last class I need before I get into the Nursing program, but chemistry seemed so foreign to me and I just needed 1-on-1 help. He never made me feel stupid or that I was taking to long on the equations, so that really put me at ease. He even said, "I would prefer you took a long time doing the problem over 3 times, then handing it to me and it being incorrect because you're worried about time." He was right because I reworked the problems & got them correct, a real boost for my self esteem. He tutored me on Wednesday and I have an exam on Fri. I definitely want him to tutor me again. I highly recommend him for HS, College...really any student that wants to learn in a non-stuffy way.
I was not in the room with David or my son during the lesson, but my son said that David was on his phone during the lesson. My son also said that David did not take an initiative to help him. He just sat there and was not very helpful. I was truly disappointed since I had had a beat experience with his Spanish tutor.
He was nice, and when I asked him a question his answers were clear and concise. He was able to help me with some math that was causing me problems. I would definitely recommend him!!!
Very unprofessional tutor. Continually sending instant messages on phone during the session. Paid absolutely NO attention to my questions nor concerns. Was a complete waste of my time and money!
It is true, I spent a good deal of time sending messages on my phone. This is however due to the student coming to the lesson completely unprepared. I was told that chemistry help was needed and when I arrived she had no idea what topics she wanted covered and spent at least 20 minutes just flipping through the book looking for what it was she wanted to study. When we finally came to a topic she needed help I was happy to help her and explain what she was doing wrong. However she was so frazzled by not having come in with an idea of what she wanted to go over that she shortened the lesson and promised to come back the next day with a clear plan. Then she sends a text the next morning cancelling the lesson. I say all this to say, if you come in with questions or topics then I am happy to help and focus in on what is troubling you but you have to give me an idea of how to help you. Know what you need when you show up.
David tutored my son in SAT Math and my son was able to understand very quickly due to David being very clear on the subject. I would definitely recommend David because he is very patient and he has a professional attitude.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been tutoring students for over a year now. I have a good idea of how to connect with kids and understand what is giving them trouble and help to fix the issues they are having with their school work.
