Liberty University (Biology-Premedicine)
Columbia University (Master's)
I majored in Biology Pre-Med as an undergraduate. My understanding of the basic sciences was bolstered through a full range of courses. As a junior, I worked as a Teacher`s Assistant in a Microbiology Laboratory where I applied my acquired knowledge. I gained a specific appreciation of how bacteria and viruses are used as tools in biotechnology. This experience inspired me to further pursue research aimed at gaining a better understanding of human disease.
I joined Columbia University to pursue this goal in 2012 through graduate studies. The ideas I worked on were transformative. The relationship between mental illness and changes in brain function fascinated me and was driven to gain research experience as a volunteer at the Child Psychiatry Epidemiology Group (CPEG). In 2014, I was hired by Dr. Holly Moore, a researcher at Columbia University studying rodent models of schizophrenia neuropathology. In her laboratory, I have conducted numerous behavioral tests on different genetic models of schizophrenia. I have two manuscripts in preparation resulting from this work: 1) Animals with perturbation of dopamine neurons and 2) Behavioral experiments with NR1 and SK3 heterozygous mice. I have applied to medical school for the 2017 cycle and am hoping to hear from them
I have taken algebra 1 and 2, Statistics and probability, Precalculus and Calculus . I scored A in all of them.
I took one year of Anatomy and Physiology with lab and scored A in all of my classes.
My undergraduate major was Biology which I ended up with a 3.4 science GPA
I am currently tutoring a student for this exam and its basically composed of my undergraduate courses.
I love to help students at any level achieve their desired goals and certainly become experts especially in Maths and Science. As a Neuroscientist from Columbia University, I find myself believing that we need more scientists than ever. I have tutored since high school and I will not only help you raise up your GPA but more importantly unleash unrelenting desire that`s in you to achieve your goals, now and the future. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
