Hello, my name is Yang Z., I’m studying in Graduate Program and pursuing in Artist Diploma in MSU.
I can give violin lessons to children through adults. My major is violin performance, I have got the Bachelor’s Degree under a high GPA two years ago, and now is tending to pursuing in Master's Degree with a famous violinist, Prof. Weigang Li, the first violin of the world-class string quartet----Shanghai Quartet. I have been learning to play violin for 19 years, and have the capability to teach children through adults , no matter how much they know about music. I participated in many performances and contests throughout primary school and high school and won the second prize in the 2002 Professional Instrument Contest of China.
It had been 7 years since I started to teach violin lessons when I was in high school. I love teaching and really enjoy the process of working together with my students. There are couples of students of mine have got strong interests on learning music and violin performance, they can already show ideas of themselves via music, rather than play music mechanically, which is also my ultimate goal on violin teaching - - help students to play their own music in patience, encourage them express opinions of what they feel from the world they live! In addition, I also can play a little bit piano, which I believe will help a lot on teaching violin lessons.
In addition, I can also give Chinese tutoring. I’m from China, proficient in Chinese language and cultures and my native-language is Chinese, I speak both Mandarin and English. I got grade "A" in PSC (Putonghua Proficiency Test) in college. It had been more than 3 years since I started to teach Chinese, for instance,Mandarin speaking, Chinese reading and writing, etc. I had couples of students when I lived in Shanghai, who can already communicate with others in Chinese frequently now. There're some Chinese textbooks I usually use when I’m teaching, and following students’ own books is fine as well. I really love teaching my students to learn my first language, and also have interesting ideas to help them being a wonderful Chinese-speaker. Although there will be many difficulties in the process of learning a foreign language, like Chinese, I believe with my patience, gentle attitude and effective method, my tutees will improve a lot and pass the school exams excellently. Come on and let's come through it together!
I believe there must be a lot of fun to study and enjoy the progress of obtaining Chinese communication skills, musical knowledge, and violin performance techniques with my students!

A long-distance and single-hour tutoring from my house should be $50-60 per hour, while which is nearby or multiple-hours per time could be lower.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
