My name is Stephanie and I am NASA Endeavor Fellow and Teaching Associate, a NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies/CCRI Education Ambassador. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo, and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Phoenix in both Education and Special Education and hold teaching certificates in each. I have a Certificate of STEM Education with Leadership Distinction from NASA Endeavor, where I now work with master's students in STEM Education Methods - Elementary. I am a former Broadway Tour performer and understudied the lead role; being able to perform a number of times on the road. I also performed with Lincoln Center and New York Light Opera Company. I am a member of a team that has a published paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and I've written songs for musicals performed regionally in New York. I have the skills to tutor students, coach future college undergraduates, and help adults prepare to present.

I work one-on-one, and can work via Skype or FaceTime. In addition, I'm happy to travel to a local library, or coffee shop or bookstore within our area.

ELEMENTARY - Math and science with infusion of non-fiction reading and interpretation. Numbers sense, foundational scientific concepts, algebraic foundations and Common Core base-10 thinking.
MIDDLE - Study skills and junior pre-college programs.
HIGH SCHOOL - College and portfolio coaching including essay, brag sheets, college searches and parent conferencing.

PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR ADULTS - I have had the privilege of speaking in front of tens of thousands of audience members around the country. I am often called upon to speak without preparation and do so by measuring up the audience, saying what is needed to communicate.

PRESENTATION TUTORING - Correct breathing technique, overcoming presentation anxiety, using vocal modulus, speech writing, verbiage and vocabulary, acting and learning how not to act in order to deliver a genuine message.

Mrs. S. teaches a Masters Program with NASA Endeavor on how to utilize the Common Core, NGSS and other nationally recognized curricula to teach STEM and base subjects. Her ability to locate resources for teachers, parents and home-schoolers is well-known throughout her educational peers.
Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

Mathematics starts at the earliest levels of development, and by fifth grade, how a student feels about the subject can predict later success. I have expertise in STEM education, and focus teaching on the elementary student, in order to redirect misconceptions and build a healthy relationship between the learner and the subject itself. When looking at concepts like algebraic thinking, geometric spaces, and rote knowledge, I encourage my students to build a strong base knowledge using many engaging tools and resources.
Reading,

Reading

I started my teaching career as a study skills instructor based in literacy and the English language. My core responsibility is STEM Education, yet I work in a library setting, and am an established Media Center Assistant. I am a skillful teacher who instills not only the know-how of reading, I encourage students to develop a love for how a written piece is put together across a spectrum - from a whimsical story to a scientific report.
