About John

Bio

I understand the challenges involved in learning Mathematics. My love for teaching comes from my desire to help people achieve what they cannot on their own. It's my job, as a tutor, to break down challenging material into chunks and to connect that new knowledge with familiar concepts.

I specialize in teaching Math from PreAlgebra, through Algebra (I & II), Geometry, Trigonometry, and PreCalculus. I can help you in a variety of ways. You may want help with your current assignments or you...

I specialize in teaching Math from PreAlgebra, through Algebra (I & II), Geometry, Trigonometry, and PreCalculus. I can help you in a variety of ways. You may want help with your current assignments or you may want to revisit previous concepts to ensure a stable foundation. You might also want to preview material for next year if you know it will be a challenge for you.

I currently work as a Special Education teacher. I have a degree in Education with a major of Integrated Special Education and Elementary Education. My courses taught me about ADD (active and inactive), Autism, and a variety of learning needs. My current job at a highly ranked public school has me managing around 50 students with different learning disabilities.

You can expect to use manipulatives, whiteboards, and other tools to help you understand whichever topic with which you are struggling. It is very important to me that you leave my care feeling comfortable and confident to move forward in your Mathematics career.

I am available anytime after school dismisses and during the weekends. My summer hours are even more flexible. Contact me for more information.

Discrete Math

As a Mathematics major in my undergraduate studies, I took 12 credits of Descrete Math. I also wrote my senior thesis on a Discrete Math topic to find the minimum number of moves to translate one graph into another. This involved collaborative research in the subject and mentoring from leaders in the field.
