University of Hartford (Elementary and Special Education)
I graduated from the University of Hartford in Elementary and Special Education. I student taught in first grade for my elementary placement. I have also passed the Special Education Praxis as well as the Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies subtests of Praxis II.
I love tutoring because it gives me a chance to help every student find their strengths and build their confidence. Working with a student one on one gives me a unique opportunity to get to know a student and help them build their strengths based on their styles and interests. Students all have different unique styles and talents who often are teachers themselves because they teach me how to better teach them as well as many other students. Growing up, I had many tutors who turned me from knowing nothing to a confident experts in subjects just because they were able to understand me and help me find my strengths. I love being able to pass that on to students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my bachelor's degree in Special Education. I have worked with multiple students with many different exceptionalities. I have worked with students as young as 3 years old to students as old as 22. On the Special Education: Mild to Moderate exam I got a 182 which is 19 points higher then the minimum score. I have played poker competitively for a very long time. I know all of the hands, rules, and plays that are to be made in poker. I have learned how to win when having a hand as low as an ace high and have had to learn how to battle with having a Royal flush. It is very much a mind game, and I am excellent at getting into other people's heads to see how they are playing.
I passed all four subjects of the Praxis Exam. I scored well above the minimum required scores, therefore I can be a huge recourse to someone who needs help taking it!
