Hi! My name is Sandy. I'm a certified K-6 teacher with several years experience working with students of all ages, levels, and in all subject areas. I have a master's degree in Reading and Literacy and am certified in multi-sensory learning. This means I am able to adjust my techniques according to your child's specific learning style and needs!
Throughout my career as an elementary school teacher, I have taught all subject areas. As a third grade teacher, I am highly skilled at teaching children to read, write, spell, and comprehend texts. I continuously vary the level of my instruction to meet the needs of my students and teach various skill levels within my class each day. Although most of my classroom experience has been in an early elementary environment, I have tutored children up to grade 6. My master's degree program also provided me with the knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively teach older students.
In addition, I am highly skilled at helping younger students develop a strong mathematical foundation, which is necessary for learning as they grow. This is again, something I do on a daily basis with younger children, but also have experience tutoring older elementary school students.
I am truly dedicated to helping each and everyone of my students, whether in my classroom or in a private tutoring session. I strongly believe EVERYONE is capable of learning and accomplishing any goal. I am extremely passionate about teaching children, helping them learn, and helping develop a love of learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
