Dear Parents/Families and Students,
The right preparation and guidance makes all the difference in a child's academic and life experiences. This is why I decided to earn a Master's degree in Early childhood Education. Helping a child to understand the importance and benefits of phonics and phonemic awareness makes it easier to improve on his/her literacy skills as they move up in school. I have 2 years experience on working with children from Pre-k through 3rd grade to help them understand the foundational skills in Math, English, and oral development. I love working with children and pointing out their strengths and positive traits. I make it a habit of developing lesson plans and learning objective and goals with parents and students that addresses their concerns. No child is the same therefore they have different learning needs/goals and my job is to make sure they succeed in the classroom and beyond. Dear Parents/Families and Students,

2-3 students rates are $25/hr. Rates for 2 subjects are $30/hr.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My name is Jennifer and my studies in Early childhood Education has highlighted the important role phonics instruction has in children being effective and successful readers. Phonics instruction may be defined as the correspondence between letters and sounds and how this influences reading and spelling.
Important aspects of phonics instruction are phonemic awareness, alphabetic knowledge, and sounds of the alphabet. My experience with phonics instruction (kindergarten and first grade classrooms) suggests the significance of introducing high-frequency spelling words. Following this strategy builds on students' reading and spelling confidence.
I look forward to working with you and your child soon.
