About Maria

I am a medical student on the verge of accomplishing my life-long dream of being a caring family physician, one who establishes a trusting bond and excels in helping people truly understand and follow through with the blueprint towards their well-being. I have a tremendous talent of having people understand and truly grasp even the most difficult concepts, incorporating them into their own fundamental knowledge that they can be proud of and apply skillfully, both for a great school grade as well as for life.
I think my open-mindedness and outstanding communication skills comes from moving around so much, and attending various schools through the journey. My mind had to be adaptable, yet stay on path towards my goal of becoming a doctor. I always did well in school and considered learning not so much of a duty, but more as an opportunity and something to enjoy as we build our mind database, expand our knowledge, and train our brains to keep them bright and active as we enagage in the great wonder of life.
I am not really a typical medical student in that I am far from a study hermit, I love to have fun, socialize, and enjoy life. I have a great sense of humor, and like sharing joy, happiness, positivity, and great memories with those around me. I love to teach what I know, I think sharing knowledge makes what you know ever more so real and enjoyable.
I am from the very international city of Rome, Italy, where I attended the American Overseas School of Rome from 2000-2004 for high school, then moved to Philadelphia where I earned my BA in Biology/ Pre-Med from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. Even though I was born in Italy, I moved to NJ with my family when I was 4 years old and lived in Burlington County until moving back to Rome, Italy for Highschool in 2000. I've also lived in Alabama, South Carolina, New York City, Aruba, and Chicago. I'm back in NJ now living with my family, in between medical school and residency. I would love to tutor and apply my unique skills and expansive knowledge during this gap year!
I have experience as a biology tutor, English as a second language tutor, and Italian language tutor as well as volunteer teaching in science and math as part of my coursework for one of my classes at UPenn. My mom is also a teacher, so am familiar with the teaching aspect of academia along with my own diverse academic background. I'd be very interested in tutoring from the most beginner level to the most advanced, variety is the spice of life :) I'm the most humble, fun, skillful tutor you may have the opportunity to enjoy learning with!
Looking forward to hearing from you and happy studies :) Ciao!

I am from Italy! Also I speak English and Italian both optimal fluent level with no accent, my mom is an Italian teacher and I used to always help her with homework/ lesson plans, and I always went to school with bilingual peers- sometimes we'd say one sentence in two languages by accident!

I am very fun, open-minded, well-traveled, and an excellent communicator and teacher. I'm even pretty great at using my hands, body-language etc! I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and also a passion for the advancement from individuals to communities, with the ultimate goal of a happier, enjoyable now and future. What better way to apply my interest, knowledge, and skills during this gap year before medical residency? Hoping to hear from you :)
