The Right Tutor. Great Effort. Great Results.
The job of a tutor is not simply to present the material; rather it is to ensure that the pupil understands and can apply the lesson learned. This requires that the tutor be able to match his method of teaching and explanation to match the individual student's needs. I'm thrilled to say that Ira was able to do this with great skill. Though our daughter had fairly good mastery of many concepts on the SAT Math, she was often missing the "tricks." Ira was able to cut through her basic level of understanding and bring her to the next level. After she completed her first practice test, Ira confidently predicted that he could likely get her score to a 700. This is exactly what she scored on her first attempt. With regard to his work, Ira has been very professional and understands what it means to provide good service. He is extremely prompt at returning calls, emails or texts. We have never had an issue scheduling him, as he was always able to accommodate us. We never felt as if our daughter was rushed; he always took more time than the actual hour allotted and would ensure that she understood what was covered during each session. Ira often used humor to liven up what could otherwise be a tedious process; our daughter actually ENJOYS the sessions with him. At the same time, he could be quite serious, often unrelenting when trying to ensure that a concept was definitely grasped. We were so happy with him that we have continued to use his services as a math tutor for our daughter in Pre-Calc, as well as with our younger daughter in algebra. We would not hesitate to recommend him for any math tutoring. He is an excellent tutor. We are so happy we found him.

He is very knowledgeable and very patient. He is good with children and young adults. He is funny and has a way of keeping your attention.
He can really get you to grasp the concept by a unique and partly joking way about him. He is kind, caring and takes an interest. He is also punctual, makes things convenient and definitely workable. He is very knowledgeable on the subject he is tutoring and in general. Great job!!! 😁

PRAXIS MATH 5161 (*BANG* 4 YOUR BUCK$!)
Man, where to begin? Long story short...I FAILED the PRAXIS MATH 5161 3 times before finding Ira based off my moms' advice to get a tutor (listen to your mom!). Ira contacted me right away and I read some of his reviews and said: "what the heck, let's do this!". The last two tests I had stayed in the mid 140's. Those of you who are trying to pass know a 160 is the golden ticket. Well, I put in 9 sessions with Ira three weeks prior to the exam. One of the best investments I HAVE EVER made. My main struggle was with Probability. And Geometry. Straight from the jump, he took the two subjects and showed me them in ways that are fundamental to looking at and solving any problem. In fact, I am almost CERTAIN I passed the 5161 because of one of the last problems was a probability problem in which I was unfamiliar yet I heard Ira's voice say, "You gotta be kiddin' me" (in his Jersey accent). I then looked at the problem in the lens Ira teaches and... I totally got it! Ira has patience, Ira has jokes, Ira will make you laugh while keeping you on your toes. At times Ira's humor hurts, but only because it's the truth! If you are ready to (damn near) die for this test, willing to do whatever it takes, willing to look yourself in the mirror and say I need to be better each and every day...then Ira is the one to help GUIDE YOU to where you are GOING in a a TIMELY MATTER. Let's just say I would still be struggling on this absurd test had I not been with Ira. My 3rd test I got just a mere 7 on the Geometry, Probability and Discrete section. Then on my fourth test, guess what? I ALMOST doubled it to 14! (I got 13 correct on the section)...in large part to Ira. Ira is not your "fixall', and he will tell you that from the beginning. He will test to see if you are hungry to learn, humble enough to put your ego aside, and if so...he will feed you until you are full and have you telling yourself get better every night thereafter. Ira knows how to motivate. He also happens to have an amazingly inspirational life story. Ask his about it when the time comes. :) Ira clearly has a passion for helping others and it's not the riches one would normally assume he is after on Wyzant. The riches he desires is seeing people like myself succeed in their Math goals and follow their dreams because of his innate ability to break down mathematical concepts and foundations and use that to flat out HELP! Just do it. Trust me. Trust Ira. Ira is easily worth his weight (no pun intended!) :) Sincerely, Owen

Knowledgeable and laid back tutor!
I have only had one session so far, but it was informative. I showed up not as prepared as I could be, but he came well equipped with a study guide that he had created and it was more than enough. I am greatly appreciative of his dedication!

On time, knowledgeable, patient, easy going
My first session with Ira exceeded expectations. He agreed to meet me locally and beat me to the coffee shop. I'm an older student and have been away from serious math for some time. Ira was able to relate concepts with applications to "dumb it down" for me and help me understand where I need to focus. He kept the session light with humor. I'm looking forward to my next session with Ira this coming week.

Thorough and patient tutor
I hired Ira for a ASVAB tutoring session, and was happy his ability to help with Math concepts. He was very responsive and easy to schedule with, and thoroughly explained what we should expect for the session and how to best prepare for it. During the session, Ira patiently made sure the student understood the concepts and explained them in different ways until it clicked. He was also very thorough with the follow up, providing homework to practice what he taught, a detailed report of what he reviewed, and also thoroughly answered all of my questions about how the session went and recommendations for next steps. I was happy with Ira's tutoring service, and would happily use him again for math help.

Great First Session
My son was very impressed with Ira. He said he explained Trig and Linear Math in a way he could understand. The session was so good, we scheduled Ira for another and will continue doing so until the next SAT in March. Looking forward to the results.

Pre Calculus: Very high and knowledgeable Tutor
Pre Calculus class: He understands the subject of pre calculus. He takes a very difficult subject like calculus and make a very easy and friendly to understands, just like 1 + 1= 2. He is a very motivated tutor that enjoys teaching all the subject in math from algebra, pre-calculus, calculus and others. I will recommend him to anyone in need to learn difficult math like algebra, pre-calculus and calculus. He will focus in the areas that one's need help instead of wasting time in the areas that you are already proficient. thank yo Ira for make a believer.
