Hi, I'm Andrew! I recently graduated from the University of California, Berkeley by obtaining a BA in Molecular and Cell Biology and a minor in Toxicology. I graduated from Biotechnology High School in Freehold, NJ and have first-hand experience with K-12 education in New Jersey. I realized that even though the schooling system in New Jersey is great, it may not give you an idea of what you want to pursue after you finish high school. I personally felt this after attending 16 years of schooling so as a tutor, I aim to help students not only improve their academic skills and grades but also grasp a better understanding of their future aspirations in college.

Regarding my experience, I have worked as a teacher and private tutor for K-12 students at JEI Learning Center. I created a system of reflective teaching that worked on reinforcing both known concepts and shaky areas with repetition and practice. In addition, I have experience working one-on-one with students at disadvantaged positions in order to increase confidence and decrease chances of future risky decisions through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Furthermore, I have been a teaching assistant in San Francisco where I help elementary school students with homework and afternoon activities.

My overall goal is to act as a positive influence for youth to ensure personal and intellectual success. Because I just recently graduated as a student myself, I understand how essential extra practice is and know that teachers may not always go over concepts clearly the first time. I want to help the students prepare any issues beforehand by going over schoolwork, homework, and extra practice questions. I am easy to contact and will always respond quickly so feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!

I am eager to teach and look forward to scheduling a lesson with you!

Elementary Math

Over the summer, I worked at JEI in which I was a teacher for many elementary school students. Here, I had to help out with things such as multiplication, division, metric system, etc. I was able to realize methods in which students struggled and developed new ways to get around the problem to help them realize the answer.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I am currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley in which I took Calculus 1 last semester and am currently taking Calculus 2. In high school, I took Algebra 2, Precalculus, IB Math SL, and AP Math. I have experience working with students as a tutor and private tutor through the JEI Learning Center. In addition, I have developed my interpersonal skills through working with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Mission Graduates of San Francisco.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I took Algebra 2 in 9th grade in which I obtained an A in the class. I hope to be able to help you out in this subject so that you can achieve the same!
Geometry,

Geometry

I self-studied geometry from 8th to 9th grade which allowed me to skip over the class. Furthermore, I have tutored students with little experience to a whole year of experience of geometry. I hope to be able to help your son/daughter achieve those grades in geometry that he/she wishes to achieve.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I am currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley in which I took Calculus 1 last semester and am currently taking Calculus 2. In 6th grade, I completed prealgebra in which I was at the top of my class. Prealgebra is fundamental for all mathematics so I realize that I will be able to use the basics of math class now to help students work out prealgebra problems.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I am currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley in which I took Calculus 1 last semester and am currently taking Calculus 2. In 10th grade, I took precalculus under the IB program in which I was able to use that information to help me with two years of calculus in 11th and 12th grade (IB Math SL and AP Math). Over the summer last year, I was able to help students out in precalculus, specifically with schoolwork and with SAT work.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I had an 800 for the Math section in the SAT when I took it in 11th grade and have experience working with students on the SAT. I privately tutored as well as taught a class through JEI in which I specifically helped work out problems and help the students realize their errors and come to solutions that made sense to them.

PSAT,

PSAT

I have taken the PSAT three times and the SAT twice with my highest score being 2250. What makes me different from other tutors is the fact that I didn't take the SAT that long ago so I am familiar with the stress that comes with the SAT. I hope to be able to help improve SAT scores as I have seen over 300 point increases when I tutored students before.

Very much recommended!

Andrew is great! He is obviously young, but punctual, friendly and definitely competent! He went over my daughter's class work in precalculus. Past tutors made her feel more stressed out, she said, and she very much appreciated Andrew's patient, serene and no-nonsense style.
