About Vicki

I am an experienced teacher and former director of a Pre-School in Manalapan NJ. I have developed a curriculum for children from as young as 18 months to sixth graders. I have a fun loving way to teach children. My tutoring and enrichment work has helped hundreds of children over the years. Both my student and I have an enjoyable time learning. I have also developed a Kindergarten Enrichment program that I have been teaching for the last 29 years. I have created a respectful name for myself in my community. Presently, I am substitute teaching in the Marlboro, NJ school system.

I have material for all grade levels. I have knowledge of Common Core methods. I enjoy talking and educating the parents of the students with whom I tutor/enrich.

Each student will learn my fun ways and educational tricks that may last a life time. Learning and teaching are the greatest gifts to give a child. I strive to help children enjoy the art of learning!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Common Core

I have been involved with making revised curriculum for the Kindergarten in the Pre-School where I was the Director for the past 15 years. I am fully aware of Common Core and what it hopes for our students. I am confident that I can help students think and answer questions in a timely matter. Writing is also a big part of Common Core. Putting ideas on paper is important.

Elementary (K-6th)

I began my teaching days in a fifth grade. Then, I moved on to sixth grade for 6 years. After starting a family and then returning to teaching, I sought the younger grades. I enjoy all ages and all subject matters. I like to tutor English and writing skills as I feel students do not get enough of this in school. Grammar is also so important to me. Teaching is a gift. Learning and having fun is how I see education. Presently, I am substitute teaching in the Marlboro, NJ school system. I have material for all grade levels.

Handwriting

I have been teaching handwriting for over 25 years. I have taught a staff of over 30 teachers how to teach handwriting and spacing skills correctly. I have my own language for forming each letter of the alphabet. I love to fix and correct a child's handwriting.

Phonics

I love teaching by phonics. I have developed my own phonics program and a book for each vowel. I also use the Wilson teaching method and materials for phonics-based lessons. I feel that phonics is the basis for a good speller. Phonics is my passion.

Study Skills

I feel that study skills are the most important tool a person can have and develop to meet the needs of studying. It is a skill I have taught for over 25 years. A student must look at his/her assignments and know where to start. The starting point is the hardest step. From there we drive down the path of learning. It makes work so much easier to have good study skills. Presently, I am substitute teaching in the Marlboro, NJ school system.
