I am currently a substitute teacher at a local school district. I have extensive experience working with elementary, middle and high school students in a classroom setting. I have also tutored privately: one-on-one and small group settings.I use manipulatives to help students grasp a skill. I also work with special needs students. I am extremely patient, and can approach a problem in many different ways. After 1-2 sessions, my students gain confidence and begin to enjoy math. My daughter had an excellent 1st session with Jaya! She felt it was helpful and is much less nervous about an upcoming quiz. We look forward to future sessions.
Jaya is a lovely woman who knows her stuff! She was easy to work with and in a one hour session, she helped me understand the work I've been struggling with in school.
Jaya has been tutoring my son for the last few weeks, and I could not be happier: she is courteous, professional, excellent at explaining difficult concepts in easy-to-understand terms.
I would highly recommend her.
Jaya is very skilled at explaining concepts in a way that my 7 year old can understand. She is professional and friendly. My kid looks forward to the sessions. We highly recommend her.
Jaya is a wonderful tutor. She always took the time to go over all my math problems and help me understand to the fullest. She was always on time and was always willing to stay as long as it took. I give her a 100% review.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a parent of a child with autism. He is currently 15 years old. I understand the disability and have tried many ways to teach him. I also substitute in the local school district and see the disability in wide ranges. One child with autism is not like any other. Each one of them is unique with their own strengths and weaknesses.
I have passed both the Praxis II: Middle School Mathematics & the Mathematics Content Knowledge tests. I currently substitute at a local school district. I would love to tutor students taking the Praxis I and/or Praxis II. After a few sessions you will gain the confidence you need to take the test.
