I have tutored many children to support and enrich their skills to succeed in school. I have worked as a homebound tutor for students who were unable to attend school for several months. I am an experienced classroom teacher as well as elementary school principal. I have worked with students from Pre K to grade 8. I have stayed current with and implemented the technology available in school to help my students. I have individualized classwork to support, enrich, and challenge my students to move them to another level.
I served for many years as a teacher and on the administrative team before moving on to serve as a principal. I recently retired and will be subbing at my school. I have NJ certificates for Supervisor, Principal, and School Business Administrator. I stay updated with curriculum and am familiar with the Common Core. I have served on and helped write curriculums for the diocese. I am available to work with your child to achieve goals we can set to help him/her progress in school. I have worked with many special needs children in my classroom over the years. My coworkers recommended me because I am patient with the children.
I have been teaching grammar for many years. I teach phonics as part of the reading program and parents are amazed at the progress their children make in one school year. Learning to read requires steps to success.
I use many manipulatives and visuals to present and explain math concepts. Computer or iPad has many excellent math games to instruct and support math lessons.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have instructed first graders in phonics for many years as part of the reading programs. I have taught phonics to second and third graders. I tutored young children in phonics to improve their reading progress. Phonics is an essential component in the reading process.
