A college professor with over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I help my students with all parts of the writing process (e.g. planning, drafting, revising). While I am available for help with proofreading and editing, my passion is helping my students to learn about their own writing process and giving them the skills and support they need to meet their writing goals. I truly enjoy working with and talking about writing with other writers. It is my career.
I am also and experienced TESOL teacher who has taught ESL to speakers of Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and Arabic both in the US, and abroad. I have experience working with young adult and professional students who want to learn and practice conversational and business English.
I have a PhD in English and Rhetoric, and my area of research is writing studies. I regularly attend national conferences on the teaching of writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently an English professor at Queensborough Community College where I teach courses in writing and literature. I have my Ph.D.and M.A. from UW-Madison and a B.A. from Tufts. I have experience tutoring and teaching writing to a wide range of students.
